But who are Arsenal now? Not the same club I remember over the years. A shiny sort of Everton instead.
How does that relate to Shane and Yoshi? We do have players that could play at a higher level than us and if offers came in for those players then the chance of them leaving would be pretty high as we know from experience. All I was saying is the fact that Shane and yoshi didn’t get offers was because we are possibly the highest level they could play at.
Yoshi did get a serious bid to leave for more money he turned down. But you directly said the fact a player didnt get bids showed a player couldn't play at a higher level, and cedric proves that isn't true.
I'm getting confused here, so back to this question We are saying that if you leave then you are slagged off for being disloyal and if you stay then you are slagged off for not being good enough to leave Shane and Yoshi have put their heart and soul into playing for us and haven't been that bad when doing it so
Shall we just remind ourselves of some of the other attacking players we've signed... Dani Osvaldo. £13m. 13 games, 3 goals. Punched the team captain, disruptive, wants to be Jack Sparrow. Charlie Austin. £4m. 81 games, 20 goals. A lot of his goals were penalties. Bad influence on teammates, smug prick. Manolo Gabbiadini. £15m. 60 games, 12 goals. Had his moments, but generally wanted it on a plate. A bit trampy. Guido Carrillo. £19m. 7 games, 0 goals. No comment. Che Adams. £15m. 19 games, 0 goals. Thought of as 'one for the future', but he will be 24 years old in July. Yes, 24. Mohammed Elyounoussi. £16m. 19 games, 0 goals. Not even a footballer. Sofiane Boufal. £16m. 72 games, 4 goals. Likes to fall over more than pass, can be disruptive. Juanmi. £5m. 19 games, 0 goals. Can't remember a single thing that he did.
Nice article, for anyone who doesn't have a fear of the number nine. https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...ory-rejig-southampton-menace?CMP=share_btn_tw
Ahh ok i wasn't aware of that, who bid for him and how do you know it was for more money? I was never talking about Cedric, Purely Shane and Yoshi.
Sorry I wasn't saying any of those things, I believe if a player can better his career then he has every right to do so. If a player downs tools and demands to leave then thats a different matter.
Just to be clear, all i'm saying is Shane and Yoshi are examples of players that imo are at the highest level they could be and in Yoshi's case maybe he is above where he should be. Which is why these players spend a large period of their careers at the same club. (not entirely through loyalty just that there will not be a better offer) We also have players that use us as a stepping stone and move on, which i have no problem with as long as its done the right way. Then we have players like JWP, and Bertrand who could play at a level above but seem happy enough to ply their trade at Saints. Every club in the world will be the same. My point with Shane and Yoshi was only suggesting that some fans will give average players legend status when maybe it's not really deserved. For me Bertrand is more a club legend than either of them as he has stayed when he could go and play for a better team.
I think you are taking the legend comments too seriously. In all the years I've supported Saints I have 2.5 club legends. And neither of them is MY or SL. But, I do like to shower some love on the players who have helped sail us through choppy waters, and make being a football fan relatable and enjoyable. And these lads do that in spades.
You could be right, Just amuses me how fans put Yoshi up as something special but don'y treat Ryan the same, in fact some even slate him.
Absolutely HR and both mentioned were here and played a substantial (both over 150 games for us) part in our highest ever finishes in the PL and Shane scored 13 goals when we finished 6th under Koeman.
I've been guilty of some negative comments about Ryan mainly because he is an England class player and has at times fallen below his standard in the past few seasons which saw him lose his England place and the rumours that he was instrumental (among others) in getting Puel the sack and moaning about Ralph at the start of this season. No doubting his commitment now and the spirit at the club is the best since Koeman was here and I hope he gets his England place back.
