As in you think he’ll go on and become a great player, rather than an ok one?
My memory is not as good as it used to be but l think that I read somewhere whilst he was here that Fergie tried to get him for Utd but Antti sald he had agreed to join Southampton so that is where he is going. Does anyone else remember that?
I know he's a legend and possibly the best keeper we've ever had, but why does he not get more **** for signing for pompey, I'm not sure he ever played for them but still. In fact there have been quite a few players that have played for both and it seems to be acceptable which is a tad strange in the football world.

Despite announcing his retirement from the game the previous year it was confirmed on 28 July 2009 that Antti Niemi was in talks with Portsmouth. On 7 August, Niemi confirmed he had signed for Portsmouth on a one-year deal as backup to David James and to work with the goalkeeping coaches.[10] On 24 March 2010, he was released from his contract, without making a single appearance for Portsmouth's first team. It was reported that Niemi earned almost £450,000 during those eight months with Portsmouth.[11]
That would be Shilts by quite a long way IMHO but Niemi is in the same bracket as Timmy Flowers as the next best.
If he does leave then I suspect that it will be more down to him wanting to get more first team football elsewhere rather than us letting him go, but we'll wait and see.
It's an era thing. On that other Saints forum, I chaired the best ever Saints team. Took weeks of voting. But keepers were whittled down to Shilton and Niemi. If people had seen both in their prime, they said Shilton.

Charlie Austin has spent this evening tweeting pictures of himself in Liverpool kit and winding up Saints fans. Currently on holiday in Dubai and has sent this... few too many beers!

Clearly just pissed up on holiday and is letting the abuse/wind ups get to him. Silly boy!! He was always reasonably well thought of at Saints. Shame for it to end on a sour note
