Yeah, i know its hamstring but not how bad and how long he will be out for. Last i heard Burton were trying to extend the loan anyway. just wondering whats up with the lad.
Also anyone know if we can get Sims back. Not even on the bench yesterday for reading for their defeat, new manager doesn't seem to like him. think he needs to come back and get his confidence back, that loan hasn't worked out for him.
Nope, He's our best prospect as far as I'm concerned and already has a MotM award against Everton in his portfolio. Its like saying all of our youth as well as players like Romeu and Yoshida were not good enough because we had Hughes in charge.
Mmmm it’s nothing like your last sentence at all. Nothing like it. Where did you get that from? He had a great start in that Everton game, but if you rewatch that match, he created the first goal early on (by failing to take the chance himself, but ok I’ll ignore that) and had one very direct and good run in the second half. He broke superbly for that Shane Long moment at Anfield. What else have you seen from him that makes you think he will be good enough? I genuinely haven’t seen anything else but pace. Like Sam, I really hop I’m wrong, but currently I think it’s a case of rose tinted glasses.
Watching him since he's 16. he's two footed, skillful, quick, has an eye for goal but can also cross. he's a head above any other youth prospect we have such as Obafemi for example. though oba only broke through into the u23's a year ago so dont know him as well as i do Sims.
Both Jakes are back with injuries. https://www.burtonalbionfc.co.uk/news/2019/january/0201-heskethflannigan/
Has he done anything as a senior player other than what I mentioned? For me, he looked like he was going to rip things up, but he hasn’t and hasn’t been given many chances to either.... there must be a reason for that. Coaches couldn’t have seen enough.
Thats like saying all of our youth as well as players like Romeu and Yoshida were not good enough because we had Hughes in charge. He's played well whenever he's been given the chance which hasnt been often. What he lacks is simply experience. i'd have him learn off redmond, they have a similiar skillset though Sims is a bit faster and more direct while Redmond has better close control.
Eh? Copy and paste from earlier. Anyway.... you’re convinced you’ve seen enough in the senior games he’s had. I’m not. Hope you’re right and I’m wrong.
I'm not saying anything about his senior games beyond his looking decent. I'm saying you cant judge a player purely by a few senior appearances which is why i keep using that line.
I don’t think he will make it with us, but I’d like to see him tried in this system with Ralph and see what happens. If he takes his chance, if he gets one, then great and if not, then we’re no worse off. I’d still like to see Sam get some games when back from injury, I was never convinced either but I have something nagging me he is our next Rickie.
