Just needs good salesmanship. Wouldn't take much dosh to get us out of the Championship. Don't forget Wolves' owners are Chinese. The glory of getting a team into the EPL could be a bigger thrill than simply taking over a currently existing one. The Chinese enjoy a good zero-to-hero story.
Ah. So now we see the plan. Bertrand's refusal to put the ball into the box when we have two strikers is simply because he's acting under instruction. (Repeat for other players at will).
Unfortunate choice of player to advertise the fact that semifinal ticket sales have reached members with no qualifying games, this one definitely won’t be playing:
As always I can't remember who I stole this point from, but there is a good argument for throwing money at keeping most of your team together for one season, like Newcastle did. Although they had Rafa Benitez, and we...don't.
Was actually thinking about Newcastle/Rafa today. I know most Newcastle fans absolutely hate Mike Ashley et al., but the manner in which they handled relegation was incredibly impressive. It also puts our board to shame that they were able to hold onto a name such as Benitez whilst playing Championship football, yet we couldn't hold on to any of our managers/players despite being able to offer so much more. I actually think, even if we lose 4 or 5 players, we will still have a squad to push for automatic promotion. It's just about getting the right mentality and spirit instilled in the dressing room. In fact, through the players we sell (Lamina, Gabbi etc), we will probably be halfway towards fixing the dressing room.
The internet starting to compile its ‘list of players we should sign from Southampton if they are relegated’. Cedric, Bertrand, Romeu, boufal, tadic, lemina, hojbjerg, gabbiadini, ward prowse I’ve seen listed so far. Should be at least 150 million coming in from that lot. The owners must be fizzing.
The recently published Championship Team of the Season should act as our recruitment guide if we get relegated. Any of those players that don't get promoted should be snapped up with the money raised by the usual summer fire sale
As has been discussed a bit on here before it will be interesting to see what happens. I genuinely think that of our 25 man squad at least 10-15 of them will be wanted by top flight clubs either here or abroad. The high earners we will have to move on if we can so wouldn't be surprised to see all those you have listed leave plus a few more. If we do go down wouldn't surprise me to see basically an entirely new first XI when we line up next season.

http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2018/04/1...-targett-responds-when-asked-if-he-could-joi/ Matt Targett says he might be interested in Fulham permanently if they are in the EPL.....ouch. Says Saints haven't contacted him once while he has been on loan...now that really isn't on.
Exactly. Thats disgraceful from Saints management team, surely a monthly update from the player and Fulham should be the minimum that should be expected Not surprised though as Les Read and his team appear to be an absolute shambles
Wasn't that SKD's job before he became management? did they not replace him? I remember thinking last year it didn't sound like he was doing it thoroughly for some reason but to not have anyone keeping in contact with them at all is frustrating. Especially as the club identified it before as something so important they had a specific job role for it... sigh.
https://southamptonfc.com/news/2018...southampton-subsidy-everton-swansea-away-1718 Club and Virgin subsidise tickets for Swans and Everton so only a tenner a pop. Good move. We've actually taken a full allocation for Goodison too @Archers Road you going to Goodison?
He's only doing well in the championship FFS. Not like he'll be able to help us into the CL positions next year. We need to be looking at LB's who cant get a game in Italy and France.
