Now we have been blessed with some great leaders at Saints over the years, but who is the best in your opinion?
To me, Jimmy Case is hard to beat, but the way that Jose has lead us this season then he could be better in time.

Oh cripes. That's too difficult. All those captains are in my era. You could add Cliff Huxford to that, I believe [before my era] and he'd be a worthy addition. It would be easier to vote on who were the least inspirational. :)

I'll have a think about it.

Steve Williams was captain? I didn't remember that. A more unlikely captain is hard to imagine.

You'll upset FLT. Steve was captain in what is arguably our most successful season. Cup semi and second place in 83/84.

Don't get me wrong, I loved him as a player. Tough and tricky, a good combination. But I just didn't remember he had been captain and I wouldn't have thought he had the right mentality for it.

Anyway, I'm always upsetting FLT so no problems there:emoticon-0126-nerd:

Great player, and was captain. Never thought of him as inspirational in a captain's sense though.

Well I've narrowed it down to my top 5!

That's Paine, Ball, Case, Hammond, and Fonte, in no particular order. But then I could make a case for any of the ones I've left out too.

As I've always been in favour of Proportional Representation, couldn't this have been a multiple choice poll so no one has to pick their absolute favourite, or is that a cop out?

There is some good skippers in that list......I have gone for Alan ball as I still remember his squeaky voice yelling out instructions and encouraging players to play out of their skins. Great player excellent skipper and bloody good manager as well.
