I do think that we've been unlucky as Yoshida would be expected to be good back up, but when he's been brought in he's been rusty. Gazzaniga looked OK last season bar a few games, but was awful this year. Hooiveld has had many chances this season to impress and hasn't taken any of them. Providing JH and MY stay, I'm not that concerned as with Boruc back alone, we'll have let in half the goals Gazzaniga did, and there shouldn't be too many injuries to Loven and Fonte. I'd wait until the summer for a quality CB and allow Lovren and Fonte to blossom together for a bit longer. We still are in the top 5/6/7 defences in the league, above Spurs and Man Utd! Any good CBs in the Academy?

2 games premier league??? many?? without hardly any other playing time?

I don't believe signings will help us push up the league much this season. You only have to look at Newcastle last season & the start Spurs have made to know that signings take time to settle in. Some of the players we're linked with (Diego, Astori) I believe go out of contract at the end of the season. I think i'd rather get them them for free, than pay now.

If we are to make a sustainable push for Europe next season, what positions would be on your shopping list? (This assumes no key players leave)

I'd go for;

GK - Mid Twenties with good 1st team experience who would push Boruc
CB - !st Choice
CAM - 1st Choice
ST - Young (early 20s) perhaps from Championship

In Italy they are probably talking about wages after tax, so you can add an extra wedge on top of that.

With Pochettino saying a firm get lost to other clubs, because players like Luke Shaw, Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert WON'T be leaving the club, this January, next season, or the season after blah, blah, the media might just be getting the message.

So what do they do..? Turn their random gaze to JWP. Apparently, he's going to strengthen ManU's squad: http://www.givemesport.com/417637-james-wardprowse-manchester-uniteds-next-star?autoplay=off

This, when some Saints fans themselves aren't 100% convinced by him [I am, I hasten to add]. Apologies if posted earlier.

Southampton striker Dani Osvaldo is a target for Inter Milan. The Serie A side could offer Colombian midfielder Fredy Guarin, 27, who is also wanted by Chelsea, for Italy forward Osvaldo, 27.
