    I'd adjust that headline to:

Everton will lead the chase to bring free-scoring Blackburn Rovers striker Jordan Rhodes to the Premier League this January.

I wouldn't think Saints would have the slightest interest, these days.

After the start you have made, would you be be really disappointed if you didn't make any further signings in the January window?

obviously everybody wants a strong squad, but do you think yours is strong enough to see you to have a very comfortable, even outstanding, season?

Personally I think we are nearly there. In an ideal world we need a left back as cover for Shaw and possibly another striker. Games come thick and fast and injuries and suspensions bite. You need a deep squad.

Good question. Depends on your definition of comfortable and outstanding I suppose, but personally I'd like to see us bring in one or two.

For me, being a Norwich fan, comfortable would not worried about relegation.
Outstanding would be qualifying for Europe.

We must get an early goal, to settle the nerves and the crowd.
Sadly, I can see the crowd getting on the team's and Hughton's back if we struggle.
This could easily turn into a game that we are scared to lose, and that would be disaster then.

Yes not helped by the new manager effect. Pulis will have the players and fans pumped up.

According to one of our very own players recently [Morgan Schneiderlin], finishing in the top half only is going to be considered a failure. He means 7 to 10th, I believe. So, comfortable is not good enough anymore.

And Pochettino doesn't like the Europa League. Doesn't leave much room for manoeuvre.

I was going for 8th, but the bar has been set rather high. Logically 6th would be fantastic, but not when we've tasted the dizzy heights of 3rd and smelt the perfume of possibly topping the table. Mauricio has made a rod for his own back...should have started lower and crept up. :)

Do you think then that over the past couple of seasons, you have been spoilt?

Back to back promotions, A good season last year, and even better one in the offing this year?

    Am genuinely interested.

Personally, I think we at Norwich were spoilt with the success that Lambert had with the team, and now anyone who manages Norwich will be measured against him.
Getting into the PL seems easier than managing to stay there, so that any managers that come into the Pl, particularly to one of the smaller clubs (no disrespect to you guys meant), could have a much harder job than they first thought?

Oh definitely. We suffered for a while to be fair, but we've definitely been spoilt since. It's difficult to keep your feet on the ground sometimes and remember that finishing, say, 8th, would still be a very creditable result. It's never boring being a saints fan anyway.

Well, let's face it. We were happy just to have survived as a club, but when the Swiss came in things looked as though they were going to get a bit more professional. From that point on it has been going from one joy ride to the next. I can't truthfully remember the last time I was really, really disappointed in the club, but I'm pretty sure it pre-dates July 2009. I think I was slightly disappointed that we only finished 14th last season, but we're making up for that now.

Feel a bit sorry for Norwich because you were like us, taking each division by storm, but you've peaked at the moment and the momentum has vanished. And letting Paul Lambert go was the worst thing that could have happened. He's a top manager, or I'm no judge. Best of luck against everyone else, except us. :)

Have to agree with TSS. Most exciting times since the Keegan/ Shilton erea. Difference thsi time is we can all see things getting even better with the Academy producing starlets galore.

There is absolutely no evidence to suggest this though

Even if Targett is (or becomes) good enough to take Shaw's place I don't think we'll sell anyone unless they want to go. I suspect Shaw will eventually want to go elsewhere but I don't think that day is here yet.

Shaw is already a top left back. He's one of the best in the league. He's getting better all the time. He's getting faster, taller and stronger. Targett will have to leave if he wants to get first team football or wait for Shaw to get injured. But he will also have to get ahead of Fox in the pecking order first. Targett is 18 and still behind Fox. From what I've read here Fox is considered to be a poor player with poor positioning. Shaw got ahead of Fox and was playing for us every week when he was still 17. Targett is still behind Fox. Shaw is a long way ahead of Targett at the moment and the gap between them will be increasing. Shaw is starting for us every week. On this evidence it's delusional to suggest Targett, the 3rd choice left back, will ever be as good as Shaw.. let alone possibly better.

Despite the stick he gets, Fox is actually a decent enough left back cover. He knows he'll only get a start if Shaw gets injured. I doubt we'd find anyone better that's happy to just sit on the bench.
