I saw an article where Ralph suggested Smallbone needs to do more work to play as a 6 (or words to that effect) - hence dropping down to the B team to try and achieve this
This is interesting as he seemed more suited for an advanced position prior to he injury. At least he was playing well there in that particular game where he got the injury.
I haven’t seen enough of him but I don’t see him being a viable 6. Or at least not a Romeu type (who we need a backup / prospect for). And if he is a JWP style one then he is behind Diallo as well. Or does Ralph call that an “8” in European football parlance - in which case by 6 he definitely means a Romeu type ?
