TBF , both Doyle and Ballard have signed their first pro contracts in the last 6 months upon turning 17, at the maximum allowed of 3 years. We all know what happened with Dibling, but I'd expect him and Morgan will get a first contract each in the next year when they turn 17.

The interview with SR bods seemed to indicate that the SFC Playbook will remain in place but evolve with new voices involved in the coaching side. This season the youth teams were supposed to be beginning to roll out the style and training plans that mirrored the style guide for the first team. No idea how rigidly that gets followed. I thought the Jaidi interview that was out a while back was interesting. He said that he understood the logic in emulating the training and playing style but disagreed with the philosophy as it eliminates the mental teaching of a getting young players to look to find a way to win by any means necessary. Personally I’m way more in the camp of team results not being so important as we’re not looking to promote a team, but rather a high quality individual or two. The chance of that working out is improved by creating a similar environment at youth level to the first team to ease the mental challenge of that step up and increase in pressure. Improving the transition process should be more important than finishing a few places higher in a league table of zero consequence.
