Highly unlikely with Hughes in charge- saying that it is the same across the Premiership. The route for young players to the Premier league is via Div 1/2/Championsip loans. The average age of a player “making it” in the premiership is 22 and likely to rise. A 17/18 year old making it, is the exception rather than the rule.
Think that’s kind of always been the case in terms of regular starts, but despite much larger benches nowadays, you hardly ever see a youngster on the bench anymore, so no opportunity
It’s not always been the case and the reason there are no youngsters out on the bench is because the first team squad is full of average players. Any youngster worth playing is now out on loan because they know there is no chance of getting an opportunity.
GOAL: #CamUTD 1-0 #SaintsFC (Ade Azeez pen 15') The hosts take the lead from a spot-kick, beating Harry Lewis low to his right.
No offense, but they shouldn't be there in the first place. Though I do want two academy sides to get to the final just to highlight what a joke the competition is and how demeaning it is to us League 1 and League 2 clubs.
You're lucky you get to be knocked out soon. We're embarrassingly taking it seriously (the only issue I have with Mr Jackett) so we'll probably make the last 16 or something.
I think it's a farce allowing youth teams to compete so hope we go out every season until hopefully the efl see sense. I will admit hypocrisy in that I would you go if we drew you lot though
