This Celtic fans thread is worth a read. Have not seen this angle on the story before.

Also note that their impression of Wanyama as a person could not be higher. They seem to respect his desire to progress his career and see EPL as doing that. I'm starting to quite like Celtic fans

I posted a link to the article somewhere in this thread (can't be bothered to find it now) when the agent demands were reported. I get the feeling Wanyama feels a great deal of gratitude towards his agent(s) and wants the best for him/them. Being able to play professional football in Europe must have made a huge difference to his life and the lives of his family so that's understandable.

I've always liked Celtic as well and wouldn't mind having them in the Premier League. With their fanbase I think they could do really big things with more TV money etc

Been out all day. Is something finally happening?

Celtic tweeted that Wanyama would start in their friendly tonight, but then later tweeted a corrected squad which didn't include him. So basically it seems they've withdrawn him minutes before kick off.

Also there's some stuff about black cars outside St Mary's.

Think I might lean to the TSS answer. Less wear and tear on the nerves!

Simon Peach on twitter: #SaintsFC are into 1/2 from 13/8 to sign #Celtic's Victor Wanyama (via @Oddschanger). Breakthrough?....

Guessing that the bookies were waiting too see whether he was in the lineup; we're the only team known to be negotiating with him, so slashing the odds is sensible risk mitigation even without confirmation that something is afoot.

Think you're spot on there.
