With Mahrez off, their team doesn't become much different to ours.

It doesn't need to be much different. All they need to be is better than us - whether slightly or hugely - for them to be more attractive than us on that front.

Plus, there's the opportunity for someone to come in and take Mahrez's mantel. That prospect is quite attractive. (And from Leicester's own point of view, I suspect that will want to push the boat out to ensure as much as possible that they try to cover the loss of Mahrez. Unlike us with Mane, for example.)

This is the major problem with Saints and I’ve said it time and time again. If we want to progress we have to compete and match what other clubs are willing to offer if we want to sign these type of players . It’s not that we can’t ,of course we can, but we just don’t. People can tell me it’s not our model or it’s not how we do things all they want but until we start doing it we will never progress to next level , or have we learnt nothing from last season. I’m not saying go out and spend 50 million on a player but if we don’t compete in the market with the likes of West Ham, Leicester, etc then relegation will be sailing on the horizon again come May.

Why would Leicester be the wrong choice? He would get plenty of game time there as well, earn more money and play in a better team, seems a no brainier to me
Err, something to do with LCFC's current modus operandi being that of BYPASSING midfield more often than not......... so maybe, not such a smart move for a young, skilled, ball-playing midfielder.

Mixed views on Norwich twitter...they all accept he is going, but some think this is just a bargaining tool to raise the price. A few think we'd be a good move for him as he would get game time. I agree with the last...Saints are still a good bet for a developing player. Obviously money does come into it, but quite a few players have rued believing that it is the most important thing. If you are good enough, you will get the big pay day eventually....and we don't pay in washers ourselves.

Problem is Fran, players have agents. And agents don't love money, they worship it.

Can't assume that everyone (even agents) are all the same. A good agent wants what is best for his client long term and then gets the best deal under those circumstances. He will know that his earnings from a successful and long career will probably outweigh a single hit that doesn't work. A smart person will soon realise what agent he has....sadly for everyone of those there is a Luke Shaw. And we don't even know what advice he received there either....perhaps it was Luke pushing for an early move. We don't know. And players talk....word gets round about good and bad agents....which you choose will depend on your requirements. Players probably get the agent they deserve.

Yeah, you're right they do go direct a lot of the time. Still hasn't exactly hindered Mahrez in his time there though

SaintsFan86 beat me to it!
Tactics suit both Mahrez & Vardy...... 'coz it's akin to route one footbal. Quick delivery of long balls which, I would suggest, ain't what Maddison is about.

Leicester would have to change their tactic significantly.. and Puels philosophy is quick counter attacking play.. I doubt Maddison would be into that... But who knows eh.
