Puel? At least he's their manager for the moment.

I wouldn't exactly call Hughes a big factor, I barely remember him as a player and I'm in my late 20s so for someone younger than me I don't think they will know too much about him. But he is probably a bigger draw than Puel, but I don't see it as big factor.

Leicester have a better squad, finished higher and will probably pay more money. Those are the 3 that would attract me if I were Maddison. The main thing I can see drawing him to us is if he keeps developing and the top teams become interested it would probably be easier to move to one of them from us than from Leicester.

Nope...not listening to logic. Have fingers in my ears and humming OWTS loudly. Saints are bestest. <laugh>

Quality little player, eye for goal and can pick a pass. I would be delighted if we got him.

One thing we do have that Leceister don't is Harrison Reed. Him being part of the deal could help swing it as he settled really well at Carrow Road and suggestion is they would want him on a perm deal. He wants game time, they want him, could help us here.

Leicester will offer higher wages than us, I'm sure of that.

Similar to Everton and West Ham. If we get into a battle with any of those three for a player (eg Maddision), I wouldn't fancy our chances with being able to match their financial package (to the player, or to the club).

I would love us to sign him though.

Additionally, if James wants to be close to his hometown of Coventry then Leicester is a really lovely move for him on so many levels.

This is the major problem with Saints and I’ve said it time and time again. If we want to progress we have to compete and match what other clubs are willing to offer if we want to sign these type of players . It’s not that we can’t ,of course we can, but we just don’t. People can tell me it’s not our model or it’s not how we do things all they want but until we start doing it we will never progress to next level , or have we learnt nothing from last season. I’m not saying go out and spend 50 million on a player but if we don’t compete in the market with the likes of West Ham, Leicester, etc then relegation will be sailing on the horizon again come May.

Just imagine you are in a meeting with Mark Hughes being told about his plans for you and how he wants to play with you in the team. Then imagine the same with Puel.

Which one would you understand the most and which one would inspire you the most?

Yeah I agree that Hughes would be more appealing, I just don’t think either of them are exactly a huge factor as neither are great managers.

In any job, the person who is going to be your direct manager is a pretty big factor, even for footballers.

A factor yes, not as big a factor as how much money he will earn, how good the team he is joining is or location in my view

If you read up on Maddison’s history, he likes to make the right choice when joined Norwich.

He even had the choice to join Liverpool recently but turned them down.

I don’t think he will join a club just because of wages. He seems like a smart kid. Perfect fit for us if he makes the right choice.

Why would Leicester be the wrong choice? He would get plenty of game time there as well, earn more money and play in a better team, seems a no brainier to me

Money will be there or there abouts at each club, location, team and manager will be the key factors. I wouldn’t be dismissing what they think of the manager when they meet them. Known team mates will also be a possible influence.
