Well if it is true then I suppose it signals the end of the Ramirez interest? Or are we putting our finger in another pie?

Fingers in pies in case something falls through I guess. Holloway sounds intent on keeping Phillips whether he wants to come or not. Pretty unlikely that Blackpool wouldn't be swayed, but I guess you never know. Quality like Ramirez who want to sign for us won't come around too often, so I can see Cortese and the Bologna chairman working on a compromise.

Educated guess

Think we should look at the Arsenal transfer model and finance plan which for Southampton would be incredibly successful as we don't have the pressure of trophy and champions league expectation.
So personally pleased we're investing our big money in players in there early 20s

Ah yes, the classic model of "hey we have a good player, lets sell and replace him with someone average"

Arsenal looked pretty awful yesterday. Don't really want to take notes from them.

Okay then, Gaston update from Hussein Marhoon:

"#football GdS: Southampton are willing to pay a gross fee of €15m to sign Gastón Ramírez, #Bologna wants that as a net amount. #SaintsFC"

"#football GdS: Another issue is that #Southampton wants to pay Gastón Ramírez's fee over 3 years, #Bologna wants cash to be paid immediately"

Keep these updates coming, for me this forum has become the best place to keep abreast of news on the possible signing of Ramirez.

They weren't awful. They just couldn't score which isn't really surprising.

And who is to blame for that? Create good chances, and Podolski will put them away. Instead they were limited to a couple of long range shots from Cazorla, and obviously Gervinho and Walcott weren't creating anything. Why doesn't Wenger just play a 4-4-2 already?

------Podolski---Walcott------
Cazorla---Diaby--Arteta---Chamberlain

Wow I bet teams like Utd and City quiver at that front 6. Arsenal's transfer system at its finest.

It really doesn't look far better than what we've got. I don't think any teams will fear Arsenal this season, and I think we've got a great chance of beating them at home. Still, I'm sure it'd be best for Arsenal if they could at least come up with a system that doesn't require Gervinho and Giroud to start. They just don't look good.

On the back of that international break there's no reason we can't do something on the 15th :)

Speaking of that, when are ticket details released? I know priority goes to ST holders, then people who have been to both home games (and possibly something about the City game in there) but I still expect there to be a rush.

Don't know, must be soon. Yes I think they will go quickly.

Oh **** off u bellpiece, I was just thinking aloud.

The thing is people could actually come onto this forum, see your comment, and conclude that the Ramirez deal is off, when actually you were "just thinking aloud". It's not cool that you might mislead people like that.

Good choice on the word "bellpiece" though. Very classy.

There is so much wrong with that. Are you being sarcastic?
