Spoke to a couple of people who follow European football more closely than I do and they both said that he is very very quick and brilliant on his day, but is massively inconsistant. Though one of them did say that he has barely played the last 3 years or so so that may have something to do with consistancy as he may be a confidence player.
It is a loan deal to bolster the squad so not massively fussed about his off the field stuff as if he does anything to disrupt the squad/bad PR for the club then we can just terminate his loan.

For a moment there I thought there was some vague rule about loan signings and their own transfer window. I still don't quite know exactly when a club can and cannot acquire or let out a loan player.

Strange that he can't play against Ipswich (if that is true). I understand him not being able to play against Arsenal, because the transfer window doesn't open until Jan 3rd (maybe the FA have taken annual leave on Friday too, rather than face one random day back at work after the holidays before the weekend). But I don't understand why he wouldn't be able to play against Ipswich.
FA Cup registration must be sorted the weekend before the round at which your team enters the tournament, so for us, that was the weekend of the 27th/28th - at which time we did not hold his registration card.
