The Championship is ranked as a higher league than the Russian league, isn’t it? A quick Google tells me the Championship is ranked Europe’s 6th strongest league.

So that would put Bundesliga, PL, Serie A, Ligue 1 and La Liga ahead?

Im sure the Eredivisie or Liga Portugal would argue with that. Can’t see too many players from the better sides in those leagues be gagging to join a Champ side. Krasnodar are the current champs in Russian so they would surely consider it a drop down. Anyway they are saying about selling to a top league as their preference, rather than the Russian league being better

Is it above Portugal? I saw someone do an analysis of the average team coefficient rating for the Portuguese league vs championship for Gyokeres goals. I think trying to point out that he’s a bit of a flat track bully who might not be the answer to Arsenal’s prayers

I’m sure the average came out similar or lower for Portugal than the championship

This is the thing though based on the team ratings. Those two leagues have a small number of very good teams and then lots of terrible ones

I think the coefficients are based on club wealth, player values, etc. The English Championship highlights the depth of domestic football in the UK as compared to other top nations.

Like the Championship then?
Yes. Which means (as people are saying) there shouldn’t be extra kudos for selling him to Portugal rather than championship other than the top sides in Portugal getting European football. Which is a daft caveat because that’s obviously a big deal

This is dragging on now, time to give the club and player a final offer, take it or leave with a 24hr deadline or walk away
This doesn't really work when the selling club hasn't been actively looking to sell and isn't under financial pressure to do so. The player also isn't going to rock the boat which sets everything up perfectly for the selling club to just keep their options open for as long as possible (see Saints w/ Fernandes)

On the other hand, it does sound like Krasnodar seem to want the money…

Ramos hasn't done great at PSG (dodged a bullet there) or Nunez at 'Pool. It would be interesting who was last striker from Sporting CP, Benfica or Porto to be prolific elsewhere abroad? Andre Silva a great season in Germany with Frankfurt but not much else.

The sly almost passive deals feel great when they come off. You've educated yourself in the market, know the products, kept an eye on the more obscure and over-looked. Sit tight, nobody else saw it... but you did.

Ohhhh

That translation is really weird. Why would it matter to Krasnodar what division the club they sold him to was in? And why would they offer him more money to keep him instead of selling to a championship club but be happy to sell him to a club from a top division in another country ? It doesn’t make a lot of sense

As to the wages - they’d surely nearly double on promotion. Or rather that could be offered. In the same way they are cut to 60% on relegation

I still think we should give up as this seems rather ridiculous. Unless the player does really want to come here and his agent has suggested that and it’s just the club being awkward
They are probably concerned about appeasing their fans. Going from the current Russian champions to a team that was relegated might seem a bit annoying to their fans.

Absolutely. The only way he’s joining us, assuming a bigger club / league doesn’t come in for him, is if we’ve either managed to sell him the prospect of PL football with us next year or purely as a PL stepping stone. Both possible but the foremost is most likely ie someone else.

The sell on clause might also be an issue for them. If he does well for us a mid table premier league club might want to take a punt on him, but for nothing like the money he would go for if he rips it up in a more prestigious European league. They could more than double their money then.
