Not sure if there are any quotes, but it went along the sky sports news ticker saying something along the lines of: "Sean Dyche has said there won't be a transfer for Danny Ings after fears he was being sold having missed last night's game." or similar.
To quote Sky exactly: "Burnley manager Sean Dyche dismisses reports linking Danny Ings with a summer move. Ings missed pre-season game against Celta Vigo last night but Dyche confirmed striker had a knock."
Not exactly conclusive, but he's put himself in the firing line should they sell.
Why don't they have money? Championship promotion is worth how much again (according to those who criminally over-simplify the situation)?
Danny Ings might be a good player for us. I haven't seen too much of him. I would like to see us sign a striker who is proven himself at a higher level than Ings has so far. I am not disrespecting Ings at all, but I feel a little notion of "Saints fan Signs" romanticism in this rumour.
Maybe I need to watch some Burnley videos.

Unfortunately, strikers who has proven themselves at a high level and would be willing to come here all fit one of three categories: too expensive (in transfer fees/wages/both), too old, or too crazy.

Or he can just say "Ings in his last year of contract, we got a good offer and had to accept". Basically taking the blame off him.
