Try as I might i just can't get excited about this one. Maybe it's the FIFA player in me, i always buy them young and sell them for more. 27 just seems to old, past his peak, we are unlikely to get as much for him when we sell. But maybe his goals, and the prestige he will bring will be worth more than the transfer losses. I will just have to trust in Cortese i guess.

You buy players for what they can do on the pitch...not for their sell on price. After all, we will never make money out of Ricky as he will be here strutting his stuff until all his value has gone. Accountants write off the players value over his contract....1 million a year for a 5 million pound player on a 5-yr contract...sell on profit is literally a bonus.

Spurs favourites for his signature now.

Have they had a bid accepted?

In fact I just can't see this. They play 1 striker and they just spent £26M on Soldado and they still have Defoe and Adeybayor... that's 3 top strikers. I don't see Osvaldo joining Spurs in a world cup year to sit on the bench and miss out.

At least we'll know one way or the other today it seems. Similarly not excited about the personality but 16 goals in 25 games is pretty impressive!

"Arriverà oggi la risposta di Pablo Daniel Osvaldo al Southampton, che è arrivato a offrire alla Roma ben 18 milioni di euro e all'italo-argentino 3 milioni a stagione."

It seems he is to give us his answer today. So, fingers crossed (or not)

"Arrive today the answer of Pablo Daniel Osvaldo to Southampton, who arrived to offer to Rome well 18 million euro and the Italian and Argentinean 3 million per season."

Source? All I've seen is the Sun saying they've bid £15million which is less that what we bid so Roma wouldn't accept anyway.

Eh, they might. This isn't like Celtic, who were perfectly happy to keep Wanyama if nobody else bid what they wanted. Roma want Osvaldo out of the club and may be prepared to accept a slightly lower bid just to get rid of him.

They might but would Spurs actually want to sign him? I don't see it at all.

It's Bleacherreport, that's just one dude's opinion, it's no more reliable than citing Wikipedia. I can help you out with two sources that actually make an effort to record positions, firstly Whoscored (screenshots rather than links because it's a cached version as the live version has been updated for the new season):

Osvaldo:

Totti:

And Transfermarkt, have a scroll down and look at the positions:

Osvaldo: http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/pablo-osvaldo/leistungsdaten/spieler_37389_2012.html

Totti: http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/francesco-totti/leistungsdaten/spieler_5958_2012.html

I only believe papers that tell me what I want to hear. Not saying Spurs couldn't sign him, but a bit fast to announce it today if they've only just joined the race. Actually race is the wrong word...siege is nearer the mark :)

I only believe papers that aren't The Sun or Daily Mail. I just think it's typical crap "researchers" from the Sun getting the complete wrong end of the stick. They have mistaken our bid for Spurs.

The Spurs bid in only being reported in The Sun, or other reports using The Sun as there source. Everyone else thinks it's us with the offer accepted.
