Twitter is already heating up with amusing comments from fans of other clubs my favourite so far being that he'll be rubbish as Pochettino won't be able to talk to him (huge facepalm).

This is funny in a whole number of ways. Unless, of course, every Argentinian Province has their own language.

Genuinely ridiculous that so few people engage the grey matter before posting on twitter, especially as most use their own names!

Not sure, he was born there to Argentinian parents, so you would think so, if not his first language I bet he is fluent.

I'm quite confused over his actually nationality. You're saying he was born in Spain, to Argentinian parents, yet he represents Italy? The Italians don't seem to consider him Italian..

No he was born in Argentina, they emigrated and he adopted nationality. As for Italian fans, I think it's like the whole Andy Murray being Scottish/British thing, they change his nationality when it suits their agenda.

He was born in Buenos Aires and given that all the youth teams he played for were Argentine, I think it's safe to assume he lived in Argentina until he was 20.
