So as I understand it, if PSV want a replacement they need to sign him by 23:59 CET (22:59 BST) ... they have just under 2 hours. They can then still sell up until 23:59 CET tomorrow.

If Leeds have only just come in late, it would suggest that Gakpo wasn't their primary aim (compared to us putting in a lot of effort with the player so far) - If I was Gakpo, having already "bought in" to the Saints plan then I'd simply dismiss any last minute approach unless it was one of the real big guns.

This is what I'm hoping anyway ;-)

Things I am concerned about:

- Leeds doing a Leeds and throwing money at PSV/Gakpo after we have done all the legwork

- PSV deciding to sell Sangare to Chelsea and holding Gakpo for another year to appease the fanbase

I'd be more concerned about the second point. If Gakpo is invested in us, he might say no to Leeds regardless of what they offer PSV.

Wouldn’t they want a replacement for Sangare before selling - and not really have had time to source one of the enquiry is as late as it seems

Is Gakpo a striker or winger? Always thought he was a winger (upon finding our he existed a week ago) wonder if this counts as the striker ralph was hinting at.

He generally plays off the left of a front three, but has played centrally and a lot of his runs and movements see him taking up central positions to support the lead man or charge into the space when the striker pins a centre back and clears space for him.

21 goals and 15 assists in 47 appearances for PSV in 2021/22.

Will take that

Yeah, said previous in the thread, but I wouldn't at all be surprised if we're signing him to play as a nominal striker/basically a free role alongside Che. So not really a central striker, but a forward whose primary responsibility is to cause havoc while Che does a lot of the dirty work.

A 4-2-2-2 with Che, Mara, Aribo and Gakpo also works for me, but that's because I am a chaotic person who likes chaotic things.
