Meh. I have experienced enough anti german racism in this country to find that hard to believe.
Most of it is just rivalry though surely you see that? Same as the Argies and to a lesser extent Portugal.
I would like to, but having been called Kraut, Nazi boy, etc. all through school, and having my mother regularly insulted by people who didn't know her, and seeing headlines like "Get Kraut!" in the papers it is really difficult to have such a forgiving point of view.
Oh I agree, as with all football (and life) for some of the more....challenged...there’s definitely an element of that there, which is idiotic.
I’ve always maintained that the rivalry (mostly coming from our side) is because we’re actually very similar, just that the Germans are better at stuff than us!
Not surprised that you were picked on at school....because kids are cruel and look for a weapon to bash other people with in order to conform themselves. Amazed an adult would be insulted for being German...but then I think I just know nicer people.
However, Germany is our more successful rival in football, so am happy to see them suffer....though would never use terms that some red top newspapers think are funny.

That of course is bang out of order and most decent people would condemn it. It doesn't really equate to normal fans wanting then to go out though.

Exactly. It has to be have been an obvious mistake by the referee. It wasn't.
