My big problem with VAR is that it’s never going to turn an incompetent referee into a decent one. Most of the referees in this World Cup have been awful. And the ref’s watching the VAR screens aren’t even good enough to get on the pitch! An utter disaster.
I've not seen it but it was the on pitch ref who reviews this one apparently, and he also booked the player so clearly felt it was deliberate. Not sure how a deliberate handball that stops the ball going into the net isn't a red though so will have to watch it.
It was just the old story of a player jumping for a ball using his arms to get momentum, and the ball came off the attacker and hit his hand about 0.0005 of a second later. The ref gave it on review, but he was wrong.
Is it just me, or is this the first World Cup where the European teams haven’t got much travelling support?
I like this ref, he seems strong. (btw, thread title is putting people off posting, go back to simple)
