I have the utmost respect for women, and I have 2 daughters.
You don’t know me, so stop talking bollox!!

Im currently watching the C4 program on the very subject.

As I thought, it’s trial by media. Using women who never reported anything to the police.

Compo anyone!!

Bart
Nah it’s clear what you think of women, watching this with your blinkers on and I hope to god your daughters don’t go though the same situation.

30 year old rich famous cocaine and sex devient, sending taxis to school to pick up a 16 year old to take back to his private residence.

Verified texts to say he apologised after he raped a woman.

If that's not enough to turn stomach then not sure what is.

Brand has used his past addictions to mask his criminality. He has even used the last 5 year to change his tune and get all the gammons and whoppers on his side and ignore and investigative, methodical journalism. He is a smart man and it will buy him more time but I am in no doubt this will be the catalyst and more will come out now.

It’s beyond me to think there is a person anywhere that can seriously like this slimy twat, he is just everything a man shouldn’t be.
I wonder when his next work interview will be<laugh>
All those who loved him last week will have run a million miles by now.
Down the drain you go Russel where you belong.:emoticon-0148-yes:

dont like the bloke, always thought he was a prick who somehow got a break, i dont know if he has done anything or if he has not but...it is way past the time for all these peedo's and sexual predators to be exposed once and for all, i do not care if they are tv stars, musicians, MP's or even royalty, get them out in the open and get them jailed.

saying that, i firmly believe that neither party should be mentioned until a guaranteed conviction is the outcome or if one has lied about it then they get named, have seen too many people losing everything despite being innocent.
To be fair I don't know if he is innocent or guilty but if any of the accusations are proved to be lies and just Women trying to get some kind of celebrity or get their names in the paper or anything like that then the convictions for that should be as harsh as the conviction of the accused.
I get that the system is leveraged to encourage the abused to come forward but it is also very 1 sided when the press get a hold of these things. I don't know how they prove guilt or innocence in a he said she said case but I find it disturbing that as soon as an accusation comes out they seem to be followed by loads more.
Don't like Russel Brand and like I said don't really care about his guilt or innocence, if these women have truly been abused by him then throw the book at him but what is classed as abuse and how were they abused. Did he promise them career boosts and not really help. Did he pin them down and force them to have sex. did he mentally manipulate them and threaten their jobs for sexual favours.
It is a real murky subject and a lot of conclusions may well be based on opinions of others

But by saying you'd ban him if you were a mod, you are admitting you would take away his right of opinion.
Do you see where this is going ?

Not at all.

His opinion is that Brand is innocent, I've no problem with that.

It's not his opinion I think is inappropriate, it's the language he uses to express it. I hope that's cleared that up.

However what is hypocritical is that some, like him, shout out that Brand is 'innocent until proven guilty' ...

... while, at the same time and without any evidence, condemning the women of guilty of lying, extortion and worse.

What I find really odd whenever something like this happens, is the ordinary folk who go out of their way to support the accused. I saw pictures of people at his latest gig holding up banners saying things like "stay strong, we love you Russell", etc. As of right now, nobody knows whether he's innocent or guilty (except for him and the alleged victims). There's basically a 50:50 chance that the bloke's a rapist. I'm not saying he is one, but that's a hell of a lot higher chance than probably 95% of the population.

Of all the people to pile adulation on, some folk decide that the person who really deserves it is the rich bloke who is significantly more likely to be a rapist than anyone else they know. Blows my mind.
On the other hand he is significantly more likely to be accused and have his name plastered all over the papers for the same reasons. We have to tread a very tight path with this subject as accusations of this nature destroy lives accuser and accused. It will attract a lot of attention and honestly very difficult to prove or disprove, that said however I agree with you about those silly banner waving plebs.

this is the text to me that condemns him, it’s verified to be from his phone.
Imagine your daughter came to you saying this had happened to her?

Would your reply be immediately “why did you put yourself in that position?” If it is, that conversation is going to go downhill very quickly.

You can see how a lawyer could twist that exchange to create enough doubt though.

We've all had awkward encounters etc.

For my money this should only have gotten to the media after it had gone to the police. That involves being found definitively guilty or innocent though.

The media didn't get the ball rolling. They were celebrating him until the noise from the victims became too loud to ignore.

I'd be interested in seeing how they met - with Savile he had regular access to young people through his job, but I'd guess that Brand probably didn't have that kind of access.
Jhonny Lydon outed Saville on the Russel Harty years before but the BBC chose to ignore it and cover it up to keep one of its stars out of the headlines and the police at the time agreed, this is a little different

I remember seeing that, not quite live (not old enough ;) ), butI think it's very similar. We're seeing 'oh, it was an open secret' all over the place. The BBC again chose to ignore it, as did Channel 4 and everyone else who employed and associated with him right up to this week. There's a large element of cleansing of conscience in the mix here as well, I think. They knew at the very best he was a pervy sex pest but he was getting them all clicks and ratings and headlines and making them money, ultimately.

I can absolutely see why the tin hat brigade are having a field day with this. He's got a social media following most news outlets would kill for, is saying some very controversial things and is on the up.

I see the LA police are saying they had a report at the time and one of the accusers decided against pressing charges. Another thing a lawyer would use to his advantage.

Whether they do or not is irrelevant, they have access and this is an SAFC forum.

Perhaps you're happy to hear schoolgirls described as lying bitches but you can't judge everyone by your standards.
Sorry Smug, but these days young (and sometimes very young) children/people see and use much worse. Regrettable but a fact. Access to nastiness is far too easy for them - easier than it used to be for us to get our grubby hands on “dirty” magazines. But I agree his remark was over the top and disrespectful to women in general. However, having worked with women I’ve learned that some of them will have no hesitation saying almost anything to “get back” at any man they consider has offended them ( this type of woman are part of in a very small minority, I must add). Several, unconnected with each other, saying the same thing must be listened to.
