I used to have a black and white television which had a black vertical line to assist with finding one of 3 channels. Wasn't HD though, although I did have it in a dedicated TV room. TV room also had a bed and a wardrobe.

Think my dad is bigger than your dad though

I'd say a reading room was definitely a study.

Unless it's a library.

Is there a diferentiating factor? If in a study it is a requirement to study, then it's not one. I mainly read populist s**te. And it's warm in there in winter.

On an unrelated matter, I've only just discovered the like / unlike function on here. I never knew I'd made such popular and unpopular posts. I'm going to go ****ing beserk with it now.

I've got a TV room in the East Wing but the bastarding telly won't tune into anything after the fuhrer titted about with the layout of the room.

Pure coincidence she reckons.

Is it balls.

Fine by me, she'll have to watch Champions League football tonight instead of that baking programme or Emmerdale Farm as I shall lay siege to the living room.

Have you got an under-stairs cupboard? Squeeze a desk and some fairylights in there and hey presto - you've got a study-cum-grotto.

Frasier Crane " You want me to convert my study? The place where I sit and do my most profound thinking?"

Frasier's dad "Jeez, use the can like everyone else".

Don't know why but our friend always comes to mind when I see a repeat of that episode.

I can remember having a TV with only BBC which took 10 minutes to warm up. Then came ITV. Woe betide anyone who undermined the head of the household by getting involved in intricate operations like switching over even if said head of household was in the garden.

my tv is a lg led hd tv, with engineer settings tinkered with to get the best possible picture, so worth it for ****ing hollyoaks and question time...

T*Is Chinese Whispers a racist term? I reckon it might be, meaning essentially the language is unintelligable. If so, soz for any offence.

chinese whispers is when something is passed along down a string of people and its meaning or text gets changed along the way. the oft-quoted example is when the message "send reinforcements - we're going to advance!" ends up as "send three and fourpence, we're going to a dance!"

your example wasn't chinese whispers. probably more like the grapevine since the original was pretty much intact.

I think there's a good chance of us getting a decent new owner in if old senile is willing to sell.

1. Current situation. Quality squad, good manager, chance for a very respectable finish this season which could be the foundation for attracting bigger players. Also the chance to become an instant hero by liberating us from Allam and a quick speech saying how silly the name change is and he wants to protect our identity and history and bla bla bla.

2. The area. Just tapping in to an enormous catchment area. With continued growth or even possibly some success there's an enormous area of land in both East Yorkshire (and the rest of Yorkshire) as well as I've the bridge to draw in masses of new support from and turn Hull City into a properly big club.

3. Stadium and land. The council haven't ruled out a sale, they've even proposed a joint venture. Anyone with a bit of cash would be able to buy the stadium and surrounding land which would make the purchase of the club worth it in itself. Millions and millions to be made in developing all that land.

4. A very unique identity and brand. Hull City AFC 'The Tigers', a revered animal in many parts of the world. By investing in the team and bringing some amount of success (top ten finishes, maybe a cup win, European adventure) there's massive potential to take the club global with a very marketable brand.

5. Price. Maybe the biggest factor. We'll be tonnes cheaper than any of those other premier league clubs. In fact I bet any potential buyer could buy our club (paying Allams loans off included), the stadium AND all te surrounding land for less than any of the other premier league clubs.

And also the chance to build something from scratch. Nothing more satisfying than that. And if its a successful project there's the opportunity to sell on at an enormous profit.

I think we're a very attractive investment.
