I think Kenny is looking to strengthen the squad as a whole first, just solidify it. I think these are also the easier signings to decide on, whilst the left back and wingers require a bit more thought and effort, and there for will take a bit longer.

Though just because papers are not talking wingers, it does not mean that's not being negotiated. It could be that Young has said he wants to go to United, so now Kenny has to rethink his targets. Or maybe Youngs secretly already on his way.

Every ex-player who knows Kenny has said his big strength is spotting players. So if he's in for them I trust him.

If we're going for Downing over Young then there's a reason for it.

We're paying top price for English players for a reason.

I'm not sure where the £20m figure for Bojan came from. I saw £17m quoted, which I took to be for him and Jeffren.

Young player's that would improve our squad imo.
    1. N'Zogbia 12-15 mil. Cheaper and imo better option than Ashley Young.
    2. Jose Enrique 12mil plus Koncheskey.
    3. Charlie Adam 10-12 mil. Imo twice the player Henderson is at almost half the price.
    4. Conor Wickham 8-10 mil. Look's very good to me with pace and power to burn. One for the future.
    5. Eljero Elia 10-12 mil. Can play up front or on either flank.

What actually is N'Zogbia's age? He's been around a while now.

Charlie Adam cant tackle. It gets him in a trouble a lot. His tracking big is also dreadful. Adam is also 4 years older than Henderson. Henderson could be a LOT better by the time he is 24.

I admit, I always favour English players.

I have had enough of a team full of foreigners. A team with lots of top home grown players is tried and tested for success. Communication between players will be a lot better, and the understanding. Not to mention coping with British weather conditions.

N'Zogbia has just turned 25 (end of may), so nearly a year younger than Young who is 26 next month.

N'Zogbia is 25 and still young. Henderson COULD be better by the time he's 24 but I would not be willling to take that risk and wait 3 year's for somebody to produce when you've paid 20mil for him.

Did you see the World Cup last year?

I think Suarez and Kuyt have settled well because they communicate in Dutch. Lucas said he and Meireles speak English until an emergency, then drop into Portugese. So yeah. But I think it's more about them getting what it means to play for Liverpool in a way foreign players don't.

Yeah, but Spain are a good deal better than England!

The best thing is a mixture of British and foreign, young and experienced. A good British core (Carra/Gerrard of old, Jones, Henderson, Carroll of new) with a few foreign 'flair' types too.

I would like to think Kenny would be buying player's based on their ability and not on what country they are from. And if your going by international tournament's we should not be buying any English player's and we also have a good few English player's anyway.

He's said as much himself, when he was asked about Spearing being a local lad. I would say though if he was torn between two players and one was British, he'd probably go for the British one to be on the safe side of the home grown rule. Remember that under 21s don't count. N'Zogbia would though.

I know, what I was saying was Spain's national team are better than England. For whatever reason, English players turn to sh*t as soon as they put on the white shirt. It's probably due to lack of group training because of how they wedge internationals in between PL fixtures and the fact a lot of them play for different teams. That, and England managers have a habit of picking a wildcard before every tournament. They should just use a team in qualifying and stick with it wherever possible rather than randomly experimenting in the 2 or 3 friendlies we have before a big tournament.

Indeed, from what I've read, it seems that most of the wingers and left backs we have targeted, for reasons varying from wanting Champions league football or the asking price being extortionate, are proving more difficult to get.
