I agree about Murphy, I just wish we would play to his strengths and get the ball forward much quicker and play it into space for him to run onto. Josh Murphy was making this point to one of his team mates during the Southampton game and was clearly frustrated.

I agree Canario. We've missed Howson in the last 2 matches because, IMO, he's the key to that. Both Brady and Godfrey were makeshift CMs and they filled in well enough, but the link-passing to forward players suffered. Jacob thrived early in the season because opposing teams didn't know what to expect, but now they do and take measures to blunt his pace. Whoever replaces Olsson could also make a difference.

Is there anything what so ever to suggest, there is any sell on fee for Snoddy?! Every other teams we sell on a play for, gets one. Snoddy is in massive demand. Will we get anything?

I doubt we'll get much as most figures being bandied about for him suggest little profit for hull, so little if anything for us.

Bah!

AN has stated:"Now Martin(Olsson) has gone we are in a position where we don't have to sell". Sorry, have I missed something? I thought we have to sell in order to buy?

I think he meant that the Olsson money could be used on new players. He has said that clubs wanting to sign Brady will have to 'up the ante', so that is still being considered. His main point was that we shouldn't be seen as a soft touch by PL teams, which is right IMO.

Thanks RiverEndRick. Perhaps I should have understood it as: we sell then we buy. Looks like the Olsson money is about to be spent. My feeling is that clubs will leave a meaningful bid for Brady until late so as to panic us if we want to use the money? We clearly do not want to buy before we sell.

According to the Portugese press (I Bola) a fee of £4.3m has been agreed, though why they would be quoting in £'s rather than Euros I could not say.
That fee would be a good deal for us, for a player of his quality and experience.

(although, I'm sure that 4.3 would be an initial fee, with many add ons.)

The £4.3m is just a conversion of 5m euros. More detailed statements have said that the lump sum we'd pay now is £3m and the rest is add ons for appearances, promotion etc.. For that we replace a 28 year-old with a 26 year old just coming into his prime hopefully. Like Olsson, he has good pace, the ability to dribble the ball out of defense and can play either LB or WL. Sounds good to me. A youtube compilation here for those interested:

Likes to get forward, really good crosser, tall, fairly strong, takes people on. Has played in Europe. If we get him, That's really impressive business.

Interesting that swans conceded on Saturday by a high ball to the back post where Olsson was beaten to the header, a consistent problem when he was with us too. If we get this guy it may cut out that weakness?

He's about 6'1, so should be alright in the air.

I wouldn't be surprised in a bigger team come in for him though. Especially for that price!!
