Gestede to Boro from Villa for 6-7M is a bit of a strange one! http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/38492332
So the Canos deal to Brentford looks like if it happens it's going to be permanent. It begs the question. Why did we buy him in the first place.
If he goes I wish him well. He is a good promising player whose development currently appears to be being held back by poor management at our club. Really what the hell is happening to our team when players were happy to join us 6 months ago appear to be happy to leave.
I reckon they have a dart board up in the board room @ CR with various players pictures on it. Then AN and Moxey throw random darts at it to see who we will go after next.
Canos left Liverpool because they weren't prepared to pay him £10,000 a week. We bought him as one for the future and that may still be the case, given the not very convincing sources spreading this story so far. If it is true, it may be that he hasn't lived up to expectations and that Jacob and Matt Jarvis are ahead of him at WR. Personally, I can't see Brentford being able to pay much for him so I still think it's a loan deal if at all. In any case I'm prepared to wait and see before engaging in speculation as to what it's all about.
Fofana from Armiens seems to be sticking around. Yet another mid-field player. Not sure why we need another in the squad. Anyway if he's cheap he may come as we may be letting others go?
If Fofana is in our sites we seem to be up against Stoke and Villa. Stoke have had a bid turned down and Amiens want to keep him, so it seems a bit of a long shot given that midfield isn't our greatest priority. Fofana YouTube compilation here:
Erm, Jarvis hasn't played a game in anger all season and Brady appears to be on the cusp of leaving (good riddance). Does that not leave us a bit thin on the flanks, or are you happy to see people like Naismith and Howson deployed out wide? And all the talk a couple of months ago about a youthful "dynasty" wouldn't Canos be considered a part of that - if it was a genuine aspiration?
Looks like the Nukes, with one eye on the Prem, are interested in Brady - with a bit of luck, the more interested clubs there are, the better chance of getting a bit more cash for him might transpire.
It may be the aspiration but the trouble with any youth player is that some will improve and "make it" many more will fail. If we had a manager that I trusted, I would highlight that we don't see his application on the training ground and shouldn't second guess the manager on such things. But as it's Alex i would say who bloomin knows. It's gotta be Jocab's form keeping him out though. Bah!
Yes, Jacob has been performing well given the chance, but I haven't been too impressed by Josh when I've seen him for the under21s/23s. I wonder if we might see Maddison get a run out either in the cup on Sunday, or the under 23s next Thu. According to the EDP, there are several clubs interested in signing Brady - I'll happily drive him wherever he wants to go!!!!
Shame Brady's become such a hate figure. He's a terrific player, and revered in Ireland. I know he hasn't been performing (hardly the worst though), but he hasn't become bad overnight. I don't know what the problem is, I wish I did. Is it in his head or down to management? I was thrilled when he signed but I know he'll be off, so I'll just have to grin and bear it.
Possibly the (ludicrous) £20m price tag the club put on him back in the summer. I reckon he wanted a move back to the top flight - especially after his exploits in the Euros, so to be at a club which has struggled for most of 2016 in a lower tier he felt was kind of holding him back? Just guessing, mind.
It's a shame with Brady, as with his head right he was someone we really needed to hold on to if we were to return to the PL, one of our very few who could thrive up there. In selling him it's very much back to square one. In the summer, holding on to him and Klose were our two major victories in an otherwise disappointing window. To Yoyo successfully and ultimately stay up for longer, losing our best and brightest is not the way forward, even if he is actually rubbish for us at the moment. Bah! Bah!
Is this another failing of Neil and the board though? Neil was on record as saying he spoke to all the players to assess if they were up for the fight. If he wasn't as seems so, then why was he kept? Hardball over £20M is one thing, an unhappy player devaluing with each insipid performance is another. Bah!
I wasn't advocating his leaving, Cromer, just looking at the options. Given Jacob's form this season, I'd like to see Canos kept on or loaned out to Brentford for the rest of the season.
I don't dislike Brady but I don't think he will be a big loss, although AN kept playing him at left back so never really fully utilised him in his best position.
