Can't they manage two games per week these tough guys? It feels like the tournament has ended. Ages since the last game.

Just about to start in earnest as it goes. This weekends matches should all be absolutely superb.

I'd say the physical impact of one full international level rugby match equates to two or three football matches, due to the amount of contact, so it's a a fair shout to stretch these games over the weekends now.

You cant have a 1/4, semi and then final in a week or so, the final itself would be a shambles and made up of patched up players.

Pretty much my thoughts ... the physical impact these guys take is incredible ... how Dan Biggar is fit after the collision with Liam Williams testifies ..

And that's just the injuries. Pretty much every player is playing at less than 100%. They'll have bruises, dead legs, even fractures. But you wouldn't tell most of the time as they'll be playing out of their skin for their country. It's why I love rugby so much.

I'd like to watch the Eng v Aus World Cup Final but it's kicking off earlier than my hangover is planning on facing tomorrow. Second half should be doable. In bed.

Apparently a decent team and in the right half of the draw but ultimately these tournaments come down to whether NZ choke which is why they're dull until the latter stages.

What's all the Owen Farrell hate about?
Is it because meat and potato pies are more Wigan than London?

I haven't seen this. Is he coming across as a bit too northern?

Apparently he's not as good as Ford at 10 or Slade at 12 and if it wasn't for his kicking he wouldn't make the Old Etonians over 60s team.
    Slade? It's Chrrrrrrrriiiiiiistmas

I don't follow the game much but have a lot of friends who do. They get very rugger bugger about Farrell. One of the best players in the world apparently.

I suspect it's a bit like being a fan of a big football club. Everyone has an opinion when it comes to a big game, in this case the Rugby World Cup, but in reality they can only vomit up what some journalist has told them to think.

Will be a close game and fought at the margins. The breakdown will be crucial, if Curry and Underhill can get the better of the Aussies two open sides then England should do it reasonably comfortably. But that’s a big ask.

The Oz never give up and never stop coming at you, so it’ll be a tight, tough game.

As Haskell puts it, fair weather supporters who only watch internationals are the kind that don’t like him. He’s the most consistent performer on the big stage, and his trophies line up with that. 3x European Cup winner pretty much says it. Ford hasn’t got close to that.

SA won the rugby championship this year quite comfortably. NZ are probably as bad as I've ever seen them. They came third below Australia.

In the NZ v SA game I thought it was quite even other than 10 mins or so where NZ really clicked and scored most of their points.

Apparently the team who's won the championship has never gone on to win the WC.

We should have beaten them by more than we did. I think you'll win by at least 8

Hope you’re right mate. But the buggers never lay down, you’ve gotta be on top of em for the full 80.

I remember being at Twickenham just before the 03 WC, we were playing them and were clearly the better side. We won, but the ****ers just wouldn’t quit.

Aussies making more mistakes and England have capitalised.

Nothing in it between the teams in other aspects though. Could still be either way, hell of a game so far.
