Was great back in the days pre message boards. Safc won, no matter how was celebrated and moaning stopped until they actually lost a game

no matter what happens on the pitch, a negative will be found and shouted long and hard

pointiess really. Move on to Tuesday
I’ve said for ages I loved the days of the footy Echo, a chew over the game and move on to your night out

Me too. Like I said last night going to the match is still the big thing I struggle with after losing my dad. I wasn’t sure if I was going today then one of me mates rang, said she’d come and rallied me. I’m so glad she did, it was a lovely afternoon to watch football and see my team pick up 3 points.

I've never been fortunate enough to have been taken to a Sunderland game. My Dad was a hard drinking hewer who paid little attention to his kids. I started thumbing it to games, from Mansfield, when I was 14 or 15. That was 50 years ago and Saturdays result has always affected my mood. Today's result means I'll have a happy Saturday night and Sunday which might seem weird to some people unless we're winning at Chelsea.

I've no idea how some people get through life with their grindingly miserable attitude tbh ...

... as I've said before, no matter if things aren't going well for me, I can console myself because at least I'm not like them.

Glad you went today Janey.

I had mates there, from all over the country, and that makes it feel like I was there ....

.... that's what it is to me, a family.

I only managed a few games with my dad before he passed but still remember and loved it.

He was good mates with Michael Bridges dad we lived just around corner from him.

‘Fair play to you for thumbing it to games, I was fortunate (if you can call being inaugurated as a Sunderland supporter fortunate :emoticon-0102-bigsm) to be taken to games.

I have to admit it doesn’t affect me like it used to, I used to be devastated if we lost but then life teaches you a lesson. There is no doubt though that the Saturday night wine most definitely tastes sweeter after a win and puts a smile on my face. Certainly no way I could look for negatives in a win, just enjoy it
I’m glad I went too <diva> x

Funny enough mate, the last game I attended with my Dad was against Mansfield at home, midweek, we beat them 4-1

Prior to that it was Palace in the Cup 1/4Final.When Allison walked round the pitch in his Fedora, and stood and saluted the Fulwell end... Me, him and his brother were stood in Fulwell End that day, got squashed to ****. He said he would never stand there again...

Happy days and fond memories

It wasn't the best game to watch but we did try, and we got all three points and a clean sheet. Can't understand how people are annoyed with that?! We're bloody league 1, of course it's not going to be champagne soccer.

Wonderful memories mate, I was at both games ...

... the Fulwell End was truly magnificent at times.

When SD and CM took over one of the first things CM said was fans are going to have to accept we are in League 1. It seems to me one of the biggest problems is many fans still haven’t accepted that.

Nail on head there. It gets on my wick when people say we have to beat teams just because we're Sunderland. We're just an average team with average players and haven't got a divine right to beat anyone else.

Edit: I'd just like to say how kind Hank was in finding a chair for me in the deafy :emoticon-0109-kiss:

Exactly we are a league 1 team and we are league 1 because we deserve to be League 1. xx
