Not sure what you'd try to take action on. It was a forum poster who claimed he was able to identify you, not one of the admin.
I've already posted this, as below, and a follow up post at 9.35am yesterday.
I've spoken, unofficially, with a very good lawyer who gave me some surprising info.
I've taken spurious legal action many times, over the years, and always find it enjoyable.
"As I'm being attacked so much I created an account so I could keep track of what was being said, do searches, pm people, etc.
It was just for fun but it became serious yesterday. I've been accused of homophobia, racism, etc, and found that my name and personal details are being pm'd to 'anyone interested'.
That's out of order, and quite weird, so I spoke to a contact who's the solicitor for an ex-employer and a good lad. He put a junior, in his office, onto 'the law and Internet forums'. I thought he'd come back with very little but it appears I was wrong. I won't go into great detail but it appears the owner of the website has a duty of care and a responsibility for what's posted. I would have to be at risk of 'substantial harm' which could be the case if my current or previous employers became involved. If, for example, my current employers, both gay men, sacked me for these 'homophobic attacks' that would constitute substantial harm. Anyone allowing this 'information' to be posted could be liable as could anyone posting. The website owner can be forced to divulge whatever details they hold including IP addresses.
So he's given me the name of a solicitor I can afford, he's way out of my league, who's open for business on Tuesday. She's had experience of this kind of thing so I'm going to put some money into it. I'm not sure how wealthy Roger, the SMB owner is, but I'm hoping to rack up the costs whether or not the action is successful. My contact reckons the court will basically say 'shake hands and grow up' but as long as it causes RTG some bother that'll do ... although it could be forced to close in the extreme

If the mods are aware of that and they didn't do anything after you had complained then you could be onto something mate.
Due to my work I've always kept emails, texts, etc, and also recorded any phone calls I thought might be useful.
Due to Pancho's lengthy, and relentless, grudge I've copied absolutely anything useful ...

I currently have another login, on RTG, so have received and sent pms as well as being contacted by various lads I know on there. They've gathered quite a bit of info via pm.
My personal details have been passed without my permission and false accusations allowed to stay on the forum. Pancho has made false allegations since I've been banned.

I'm always honest and can happily say I miss my mates on RTG and didn't want to be banned.
I didn't post about Gareth Thomas to engineer a ban. I've no problem defending myself, no matter how many bigots are piling in, I can always deal with a bunch of thick witless internet heroes.
The legal action will be fun and can fill the gap that football has left ...

It's not just a row over whether Donald's a chancer or if a player is shyte or not.
I've had my personal details passed on by pm, been accused of hate crimes, etc. I currently work for two gay fellas who own the villa in the south of France, they're absent owners and rent it our. If they were informed that I was posting homophobic attacks, on the Internet, I could be summarily dismissed. That, according to the solicitors, is putting me at risk of 'substantial damage'.
It's bad enough if it's just the resident forum weirdos but this involved a Moderator which is unacceptable. Pancho thinks he's a clever chap, so we'll see how that pans out. He thinks it's funny to join in with attacks on me, then ban me for responding, so it will be funny to wipe the smile off his face.
I was asked to take my complaints to pm and subsequently banned for life. The responses, to my posts, were removed and all attacks on me by posters and Mods deleted.
Posters who backed me up were banned. And recently people who've attempted to dispute claims, against me, by the forum clowns and Mods have received bans.
Yet there's been a week of attacks on me, with people calling me liar, etc, all of which are allowed to remain, no matter how personal.
So f**k them mate, I'll spend the money I've saved on flights back for matches to have a bit of fun and take it to court.
From what I've now been told these forums have a duty to safeguard people's information. The disgraceful situation with @janey and the Mag tosser shows that isn't the case.
The plan is to run up legal costs and hopefully win the case. I don't want to receive any compensation, just cost Roger a packet in legal fees.
If there's any award I'll buy everyone on here, and my mates on RTG, a pint
