I grew up living next door to the Thompson Memorial Hall, the Sheet and Anchor was a few doors down across the road from Tennicks the proprietor was the same John Tennick who organised trips to away games in the early 50's. The Grapes was on the next block down on our side in a row of small shops that ended on Church Street with another pub that is now called Jacksons, its the original name that has escaped me and some poster said it was called The Queen Alexandra, not sure about that but I will check it out sometime, The thread over their was a great read and brought back a lot of memories, Another pub from the past not mentioned was The Marquis of Londonderry on the corner of the Cage Hill a childhood playground.
As juniors we had to go to Thomas st school for a few month while we were waiting for Hylton Castle Juniors to be built. My aunt and uncle used to live above Tenicks. Was there also a shop called 'Shemmies' near there? I remember something abut Jackson's being called the Queen Alexandra.

How can anyone be miserable (about football, not in life that's a whole bigger thing and perfectly understandable)

But in football terms, we have the Americans on board and it's the weekend

It's brilliant mate I'm hoping for a class atmosphere tomorrow even if its raining. Bringing the barins ear defenders so hopefully we get loads of goals.

In a seat never been in before L7 on the front row as he wanted to be right next to the pitch.

Right at the front!! Make sure the bairn has a waterproof.

Got my rain coat with hood same with him and going to club shop before hand to buy him a red and white hat as he wont be able to wear his strip.

He's gutted about it was perfect day for when got it. He's 7 and got him a strip for his second match and it was Wimbledon when got the hatrick so he was like I did as had same number.

Hope we smash them tomorrow! Best thing about it is his dad is a mag but he hardly bothers so never even took him to see the mags so he is now officially a lads fan!

After I finish my contract work will buy us both season tickets and hopefully he will come with me for 50+ years!

Tbf mate it's you who has came across as a bell end.

The majority of your posts have been negative whats your issue? Or more importantly whats your username on RTG :emoticon-0102-bigsm
I never mentioned bell ends but thanks for the endorsement, so you don’t think there are egos on here, it’s like a gentleman’s club the way the wagons circle and buddy up to each other, I’ve never mentioned that I post on RTG but if I did I’m sure I’d be castigated like others have been.

Trying to cause arguments over nothing, just chill out mate it's a football forum.

Took my daughters when they were young but they lost interest but still like to see the lads do well especially the one who lives and works in Gateshead.
Better luck with my grandaughter is who is 25 now and a massive lads fan as is my nephew who I took as a 8 year old and is now close to 40.
Have a great day.

The biggest difference on here in my opinion, is there appears to be a bit more respect for the poster.

They might have the opposite view to yours buts it's discussed like grown ups and as I have said many times its discussed the same way it would be if it was in a pub over a beer.

Someone mentioned egos on here? Can't say the vast majority have egos, just care about the lads and are happy to have their views challenged
