Ludicrous. The ref clearly bottled it after hearing the fans' reaction having not actually seen it, and so gave a free kick. Poor.

Alex ferguson is trying to defend him saying there was nothing in it. WTF , was he watching the same game?.

It was Mike Phelan on MOTD saying 'the ref saw it and that should be the end of it' but did the ref see it from tha camera angle that we saw
if Williamson can be banned after Howard Webb had seen the shoulder barge at Bolton because he was shown the incident on camera then why not Rooney
we'll wait an see what happens although one of the ten commandmentd of the FA ' though shall not mess with Fergie ' willcome into force

Fergie's Reaction - Cock

"I have had a chance to see it," said Ferguson. "There is nothing in it.

"But, what will happen, the question has been asked and because it is Wayne Rooney the press will raise a campaign to get him hung by Tuesday or electrocuted or something like that.

"It is unbelievable. Watch the press. It will be interesting to see it."

The more I see it the more annoying it is. I'm sure wrestlers used to call it a forearm smash. Rooney is a bully, he could have been sent off and totally changed the game. Man Utd must be mad to pay him the salary he is on for behaviour like that. Ferguson is a disgrace for his comments after the game, he implied Rooney would be hounded over a nothing incident. I wonder if the ref is regretting his arm around the shoulder afterwards.

That's a hundred times worse than what Willo was suspended for, that's even worse than what Barton was sent off for. Rooney will get away with it though. If the FA do nothing they'll be getting an expletive-ridden email from me and hopefully a few of you as well. <ok>

There's no doubt about it being a straight red offence but with it being Rooney, AF and Man Utd, will the FA step in and see that justice is done? I doubt it but they won't look good over it.

Another thing about this is that youngsters seeing it happen will at some time possibly try to get away with the same tactic themselves.

What is the game coming to?
