The impression given on some of these guys, particularly the superstars of some sports, are that they live in a bubble, surrounded by a team who do every single thing for them short of wiping their arses.

They have no concept of the real world around them nor of the day to day / longer term decisions made on their behalf.

Then they shouldn’t be too surprised to find out that they’re either not quite was wealthy as they thought they were, or for some reason they can’t understand the taxman is after them. Or both!

Totally agree. Seems to happen more than you'd expect though.

And, that’s his weakness. He’s greedy and obsessed with money and fame.

Hit him where it hurts!

Why not both. He's such a vain / image conscious individual, a spell of "slopping out" with a few photographs leaked would destroy his ego and if he owes the tax money take that as well?

The part they didn’t quote is right after he said this, he looked straight at the camera and said “so sit there and burn and rage ladies.”

Aren’t all these players who run into this situation just I’ll inforned or careless?

Neither. Nearly all of the time their legal reps will say :

Do you want me to setup your financial affairs so you pay
the minimum tax possible ??

And their answer will be "yes" and not "how will you do it ??"
(assuming they had the intelligence to understand the latter) .

Someone like me, who :

- understands the basic tax mechs and has had to deal with the
taxman

- but doesn't have the funds to benefit from these 'exotic'
arrangements

if we come into a lot of money and want to optimise our
after-tax returns, we will ask the "how will you do it ??"
question.

Then hit him for the €14mill, with another €14mill in fines.
That’s not enough imo. If he has evaded paying €14m then he pays that and then a further €28m in fines and interest - and withhold his assets till he pays in full

Haha. Post [HASHTAG]#106[/HASHTAG] in this thread rings eternally true.

How do scousers (the red ones) generally feel about the fact that not only did Fergie obliterate their league title record whilst laughing the whole way, but he also guided this boy and shaped him into possibly and probably the greatest footballer of all time?

Even reading that must make some of you want to set fire to your own face just to stop the pain.
