Very true... or a prison sentence. Nowadays even with video footage you can walk out of court scot-free <whistle>

It would come down to intent. I think that there certainly was an intent to foul, but whether he intended to hit the face or just his elbow moving there naturally as he swung... That's hard to judge... Only Ronaldo knows for sure.

There wasn't a punch or an elbow. He got a bit pissed off at being blocked and aggressively went past but I don't even think it was a yellow. Should have booked the Iranian for rolling around like he'd had his face chewed off by a bear.

The fact that it was referred by the VAR team to the ref is ridiculous.

I just popped on the BBC story about it and the comments on there are as if he'd beat the **** out of him. People need to get a grip <doh>
