While visiting the Vatican
Our guide was offering us all much information
During a short conversation with the guide I informed her in detail of the only British pope
Nicolas Breakspear 1154-1159
Born in Langley Hertfordshire 1100
She now uses this as part of her spiel

I’ve actually known that information for many years
Ironically my grand daughter works in a barbers and the owner is form the Langley are he went to Nicolas Breakspear school
And had know idea of the significance of the name
He never new about the pope
Strange thing ehh

It's a great place to visit . Mind I wish I'd had that bit of info when I went!

Had ten days there about three years ago, but for all the amazing things there are to see in Rome, it was the piles of rubbish everywhere that left the biggest impression on me!

Bloody stuff was everywhere man. No idea why mind, but it was awful.

It's a great place to visit . Mind I wish I'd had that bit of info when I went!

Saw much the same but more like 20 yrs ago. There was a rubbish collector strike on at that time

I took Mrs Smug for her birthday and loved it.

We put the alarm on for 5am and walked to the Trevi fountain. It was great walking through the murky back streets then suddenly coming onto the fountain head on, not a soul there but us.

Then we had coffee and buns in a 'workers café' which was a right laugh. When they realised it was Mrs Smug''s birthday they sang an Italian happy birthday. As we left I grabbed a street sweepers coat, hat and brush then started sweeping the pavement and singing mock opera ...

.. the place went up <laugh>

Been 3 times and love the place. Could mooch around all day. Last 2 times we went, we saw Depeche Mode at Olympic Stadium. Great in summer in Rome on drink all day then off to see your favourite band
