Exactly this. Couldn't give a toss about the England national team. More interested in seeing Ballard, Stewart and Alese back in the team, then 3 or 4 weeks until the transfer window reopens
Need a positive January - couple of experienced heads through the door wouldn't go amiss

You will have mate. Cracking generation of players back that. Still remember the explosion of colour when Holland played Brazil in the Semi final.

I’m normally buzzing about the World Cup, but with all the sleaze and corruption associated with this one, I find myself totally apathetic at present.

    Spot on.

Never had less interest in a World Cup. It will be a truly disgusting spectacle.

I remember back in 2010 when Russia and Qatar were announced and everyone was very critical of both decisions and the supposed deals that had been done. England themselves had been up to no good, apparently, trying hard to woo Jack Warner who ultimately voted for Russia. England even hired an ex Spy to find out what Russia were up to, and he seemingly discovered a lot! 16 of the 22 members who awarded those deals are now banned / under investigation. There has been suggestions on a lot of world cups about how deals were done to get them to their country. South Africa and Germany were shrouded in accusations. If you really want to go back in time Uruguay hosted the first world cup, supposedly in part due to offering to pay all travelling teams expenses, which nobody else could match. I am not defending Qatar here by the way, just depressing myself about how FIFA have been corrupt, allegedly, forever.

I suppose I cant not watch this one, on the grounds of corruption, having watched the others. I dont like it of course. What really bothers me, the nearer we get, is the human rights issues. I read a report recently stating c6500 immigrant workers had died working in Qatar since they won the world cup. Maybe they arent all working on the world cup, but nevertheless if true it is quite some statistic.

The world cup, for me, is like Christmas and Birthday all rolled into one. I have loved every single day of them and I cant imagine not watching and loving this one to be honest, in spite of everything I have posted above. I would love FIFA to be scrapped and restarted, but I am afraid I will be glued to the matches as always.

it was always like that for me too. Another reason for being furious at this corrupt affair; they have stolen a World Cup from us.

And, for all other questionable awards this is in a league of its own. A terrible country, on a par with Saudi for barbarity.

Nowt like a big international tournament, excitement building towards the first games, and then finding a big beer garden with a big screen to sit in the sun and enjoy the footy. So this upcoming one looks like a damp squib, with early morning games, in bloody cold and wet November, in the middle of the domestic season, who on earth thought this was a good idea?
Fortunately me and the lads will be fekking off to watch the first week in Gran Canaria, so we'll have the sun and the beer, hopefully big screens, and catch 2 England games while we're there, so that's a bit of a consolation. Can't wait.

    Couldn't give a monkey's about it tbh.

Every game there is a reminder of how corrupt FIFA is.

Slimeball culture. We shouldn't be supporting this regime by taking part IMHO. I won't be watching.

I will have one eye on England and the other on bentette, I agree it should not be happening in winter and certainly not in Qatar but certain fifa senior officials such as blatter et al, all got very rich from it and lost positions after the damage was done, it’s still the same now with that new veruca in charge
