I think there were a lot of red flags, this was one of them for definite. I think the biggest one was the fans changing the seats.

At the time I assumed the best and thought it was something to help us reconnect with the club and the new ownership. Looking back it's obvious they were skint and trying to polish a turd.

100% agree mate. Alex Neil did brilliantly bearing in mind our form when he arrived. He made tactical changes that Johnson wouldnt make and they worked wonders. I also suspect he made things simpler for players like Bailey Wright and Cory Evans and they benefited. Neil has more flexibility than Johnson and that marks him out as a better coach.
Completely agree with all these. Maybe we get up with Johnson. But there's no way we would have been as confident about the playoffs as we were, as anything could have happened. So great that we got Neil. If we could have got him 4 years ago we might be in the premier league by now.

Roker Report lost me when that idiot said Bergkamp was vastly overrated.

Probably one of the finest strikers ever in the Premier league. Made the game look easy and the debate has went on for years "Did he mean to do that" when he scored against Newcastle, of course he did, and not just because its Newcastle.

in 1998 Holland beat Argentina, his goal was pure class, ball over the top, killed it, controlled it,knocked it in. Stupid comments like "overrated" for a player like that proves that some people know nothing about football.

Still howling they released a pod confirming Dell had bought the club, then backtracked massively and had to pretend it never happened hahahah.

not necessarily more than it should mate. They aren't elected officials put there by the majority of a democratic vote of a population. They don't speak for me.
This does get on my tits as well. The way they (and others) think they are the voice of the fans because they have got a YouTube channel or whatever. It's all very 'matter of fact' with them when they decide on their opinion it suddenly becomes the voice of the fanbase.

don't get me wrong, good luck to them but don't think they're anyone's voice.

I find it hard to criticise Roker Report for being negative when WMS keep putting stuff like this out

https://wisemensay.co.uk/what-is-kyril-louis-dreyfus-plan-for-ownership-of-sunderland-afc/

This isn't necessarily wrong. But there does seem to be a constant attempt to convince supporters they shouldn't like KLD. There was an article the other day that said we shouldn't see KLD as separate to Donald and Methven and its time we see them all as one entity.

Yeah, I mean, why start listening to them now after they were right about Donald and Methven all along?

I have just had a read of some of the roker report stuff. Anyone would think we were a club in a mess reading it. There is an 'editorial' which is a list of whinges. There are 2 articles waffling on about how we need to sort ownership in order to move on. At one point the phrase 'it is very Sunderland' trotted out. Surely we are all more upbeat than this? I am still flying after Wembley me.

We are about to have a crack at the championship and I choose to believe we are primed to have a right good go at promotion. The handful of players we are linked with are next level ones. Trust me, if Alex Neil didnt think he would be getting the players he needs he would be gone by now. We will have the biggest attendances in the league and we have momentum.

I dont go on roker report and other sites regularly but the top few stories today are hardly encouraging...

Don't bother with the fanzines, they seem to jump from ultra positive to ultra negative with very little middle ground

Johnson may have scraped 6th position but would have been completely and utterly out thought and out manoeuvred by Russell Martin, Darren Moore or Gareth Ainsworth. Can you imagine us holding on to a 1-0 lead at Hillsborough with Scrappy Doo in charge?
