they have been good but they also showed a really lousy run too recently. they might get 4th sure... but a couple injuries, suspensions kick in.... they can drop down. i'd be surprised if utd end up 2nd. i think both top 2 are going to be rolling at full tilt on the run in and from 46 points now v 37 points... well in 18 games utd basically need to win 3 more than the others minimum. for utd to pull 40 odd points out of 18 games thats basically 13 wins. is that possible yes. have utd a great away record NO (2-6-2 is not brilliant) utd would need to win all 9 remaining home games the win 4 of the remaining 9 away games they will get 3rd imo. however thats potato potatoe... they will be in cl we will be 7th
to have cl wrapped up you have to get 70 points..... you want me to dig out some stats on teams swapping round in last 8 games? being in the title race is different than being racing for also rans slot. title winners win most all their games so yeah having 5 point lead is huge... most of the time example 2013 after 30 games utd top city way back tottenham 3rd 57points arsenal 4th 56 points. final table utd top city way back chelsa 75points arsenal 4th 73 points. tottenham heart break. assume nothing. i accept you meant something else but i'm just pointing out you can be as cocky as you like but thats why on the lfc board you get shot down by the by that year. at 20 games. chelsea 3rd 38 points spurs 4th 36 arsenal 5th 33 west brom and everton level on 33 points...... very similar to today.... who knows you might have a turd of a time in the next month then usr your class to fight back in the end. i say 3rd utd and southampton 6th, west ham 8th.
don't worry if they do that 3rd place manager will be in the CL final.... city have barca to play.... big ask. chelsea have psg... not quite as big.... i reckon if city go out early they will win the title. the only way chelsea implode imo is if they go long in the cl and burn out costa and hazard
I can't see us getting 2nd. We aren't consistent enough to get ahead of the top 2. You have to hand it to City, no Aguero and they still carry on winning. If there was a chink that was it, but they closed the door well and truly, and fair play to them. Tbh I would be more than happy with 3rd or 4th this season.
i think theres at least a good chance of it you went 8-1-1 at home so far. so home form is not at issue. away you are 2-6-2... thats not good so the trick is away form. if you improved that... and 4-0-4 returns the same points away in 9 games not 10..... ell then ou will. you aint taking more at home cos thats next to impossile you've done that well.
Nah it's not being cocky at all, and I never get shot down on here. You're ignoring experience and big club mentality. United in 3rd with 8 games to go is a different prospect to Spurs in 3rd so it's a tenuous comparison. If you can find any seasoned top 4 club in 3rd place come the run in, that then got overturned to outside the top 4 I'd be surprised.
or conversely trun the draws into losses for astro... either way. stoke away = hard game... good draw. QPR west ham Swansea City Newcastle United LFC Chelsea Everton palace hull your away games are..... now..... qpr... as good as stoke for battering you with long ball. west ham, ditto... swansea 6/2/2 home record quite good but no bony... newkie? easy meat... us... chelsea.... even everton.... for me i can see you win the 4 and take a few draws so yeah you can do better on the road from now on.... if its not a fragility you have in you. qpr up first on 17th...
I can't see the italics but you just said you will go from 2-6-2 record to a 5-3-1 record from here Add 9 wins at home I presume.... That would be 14*3+5+ 37 which is 85 points So where is the realistic then... Can you clarify how you think you'll get 85 and not be in title race given today you said the other two will finish ahead! I presume we can just now wait til the Chelsea game you think you'll lose and the heartily laugh at your anguish as you did at ours
The biggest difference compared to last season (whether Astro likes it or not) is that at home they are now confident of beating teams. Last season, their away record was much better than their home one as it seems they were **** scared of their own crowd. In fact if their away record improves the rest of the season they could get > 76 points and dig in that 3rd place. Even Chelsea may be happy with a point if they've had a hard CL match.
It's not just about our mindset though. It's also about the opposition's. And while teams come to OT thinking they can press us and harry our defence, I won't be so confident about our home form. But IF we beat Southampton on Sunday then that will go some way to achieve that. I'd take a draw now tbh.
