We are doomed! Unless Martinez says one thing in the modeia and puts a rocket up the players arses away from the press?

Moyes had his mindset and people praised him for it, it got him the biggest job in the land FFS. Every player he has managed talked of the ability of the man, others tipping him for the "Biggest Jobs"

Moyes had the knack of turning it round when you'd least expect it. I lost count of the number of times I'd read his teamsheet and despair, only to see him make me look a chump by picking the right side and the perfect game plan to get a result.

Martinez looks to only have 1 setting, that's why I'm a tad frustrated by him at present. I like the fella though and want him to succeed, but he has to change imo and I see no sign of it being any part of his makeup.

Moyes only played one way, percentage football.

The only time I was ever excited by a Moyes team was at the start of his final season. That run of games when he played and trusted Fellaini in a box to box role was the best football he played.

He also played players out of position constantly such as ossie on the right and not in the middle. Or Naismith as a winger and not behind the main striker. Th e one constant in Moyes time waws that he knew Baines and Pienaar were a good pair and played them consistantly together....Which made us predictable as our only tippy-tappy plan was between these two....then it was percentage football(direct in moyes book) as the next option.

Martinez plays his own brand of percentage football....then mixes that up with direct play on occasions. but if Lukaku is bored of making runs and not getting the ball, he want to change his job.....or ask oppo managers not to setup so deep

I think that's slightly unfair tbh. Moyes default style was percentage football, but he adapted his style to suit the quality of player that he had at his disposal. That's why we became easier on the eye towards the end of his tenure, as he'd created enough revenue to bring in a better quality of player, and the way he got them playing reflected that.

Martinez main difference to Moyes, is that his 'style' is as important as the result, and Moyes saw the result as being paramount, with any 'style' being a 'nice to have' but not a prerequisite.

I disagree, Moyes setout to not lose a game...Martinez looks to win games.

2 sides of the same coin.

If you don't lose you've always got a chance of winning....

Your are wrong Tobes, moyes biggest flaw and criticism from fans were his negative tactics. Nobody says that about martinez, well they do now the team is going through a sticky patch.

As per usual we have fickle fans(not aimed at you)

Sure Martinez is more positive than Moyes, but the positivity isn't worth a rats ass if you're leaking goals and losing games as a result.

Gary Neville did a great piece last night on MNF and put Carragher right back in his box after he was trying to make out Liverpool were on the verge of a revival.

He said quality football should be taken as a given by top sides, but it's not the aim, it's merely a by product. He was stating how ridiculous it was that Liverpool for example had 27 chances against Arsenal and 20 against United, as the top sides shouldn't be conceding even a 3rd of that number of opportunities during a game. The game's too open, midfielders and defences aren't working hard enough to fight for the ball (and 2nd ball) and clsoe down the opposition. He then showed a clip of the Athletic Madrid vs Bilbao game from Sunday which emphasised his point perfectly, as the work rate was amazing. The entire game yielded 9 attempts on goal.

What does that have to do with how we are playing. the PL is a different animal to Spanish football played at a different tempo. Spanish fans are more patient and dont demand the ball to be pumped forward at every oppertunity and posessio is recycled rather than lost.

Martinez had us playing this way last season and now it is not working for a variety of reasons people want Moyes football. To rollover at the TOP FOUR SIDES AND HAVE OUR BELLY RUBBED!! TO NEVER HAVE A GO AND LOOK FOR A POINT AT BEST, **** THAT

If you'd have seen the piece you'd have understood the relevance as it was a million miles from tiki taka possession football, that was the entire point.

Who wants Moyes football? Are you incapable of understanding even the basic point I'm making here?

For all his 'positivity' we've won 5 ****ing league games all season. He's getting it wrong, his tactics are being negated by even average sides and we're creating next to **** all in terms of quality chances, in most games of late.

I have no idea what point you are trying to make, first that Moyes played mixed tactics? Then he played for the result??

Now some MNF link that has no reference to Everton or how martinez sets us up to play, however Neville did praise Martinez and his style/split CB with a DM dropping to make a three at the back enof of last year - about 12 months ago<ok>

http://www.statto.com/football/teams/everton/2014-2015

Those stats show to me that it is only defensive errors that have cost us and this I will put down to injuries.

1.5/1.6 goals a game is not that shabby my friend goals per game and without the errors we would be around 4-6th

<laugh>

So you're putting the entire issue of us only having won 5 games all season and the fact that we've been defensively shocking, down to injuries and 'defensive errors'? (as if they're acts of God like)

You're as deluded as them lot across the park. We've been sussed out and by your own stats there, we've got the worst home defensive record in the league, this is due to the manager leaving us hideously exposed to the counter, having both full backs pushed on and a front 4 that haven't got a tackle in them between them.

Yes it does and before slagging off the comment try listening to the point I was referring to.

Jesus PJS surely you can see we need to mix It up a bit???

A small example...remember against Arsenal last year everyone was like WTF Lukaku on the right wing???

We are not changing anything at all this year for all his positivity as you put It why did we struggle to draw v Hull at home ffs???

The QPR result also flattered us the other day...

You wont solve a head ache by continuing to bang your head against a wall you take a few tablets

If we continue to play exactly as we are we will finish exactly where we are IMO mid table

Besides our differing views this thread should be closed as apparently they are In transition now as they sold one player (The cannibal)

No, I thought Lukaku out on the right was a great ide, especially with how the arsenal FB's push on and the pace power of Lukaku. But with no Kone or Naismith.....who plays through the middle?

That was Just an example of what was changed from the norm last year not necessarily what we need to change now...

Depends who we play on what we do and that's what Martinez needs to do more of rather than Just play the same way all the time

Reminds me of his relegation season with Wigan, they could score goals but my jaesus did they concede many too. If you lose 2 of the next 3 Martinez is a gonner surely because you'll be in the relegation zone.

Rodgers will finish the season at least imo and if the bad form continues he might get the bullet in the summer.

It's a carbon copy of what he did at Wigan.

I doubt Kenwright will bullet him though, we'd have to be on the cusp of going down for that to happen.

He's lost the plot, his team selection yesterday was abysmal and we conceded 3 goals to a ****ing awful Newcastle side. Truly grim.

After seeing many of the goals we conceded, including 3 to a dire United, I feel your pain. <laugh>
