Liverpool are becoming a bit of a joke really. I just hope they give Rodgers a chance to perform and don't sack him if he starts poorly. He has inherited a squad very much in transition. They need their signings to come good really, and even then I still think 5th place would be a great, great achievement for them with the current players. With that being said, on their day they can beat most teams.

Wow, have you actually seen Swansea play this season? He's a good manager definetely, his team proof of that - however he is inexperience for a big job like 'Pool

Yeah mate I saw them and fair play to their players held their own in the premier league against the best just as our team will.
But to appoint this clown on the basis of that is crazy.

    Last option style.

I wouldn't call him a clown no way, he got them playing the way they have and quite rightly deserves his plaudits in the same way Adkins deserves his - I do however think appointing him based on 1 season in the Prem is crazy for someone like Liverpool

Paul Lambert has resigned according to a flurry of recent reports, spearheaded by the Times.

Unhappy after Norwich City club officials refused to allow him to speak to Aston Villa again.

    Wowzers.

I might make the observation that he did say No, first time of asking. Clearly, before when Anfield asked him, they didn't meet his terms, which have been pointed out elsewhere, but I'll repeat them here: that of there being no Director of Football, and that He gets to run the show. At their first meeting they obviously couldn't accept that, and therefore he turned them down. Since then, they've talked to other managers and also had a re-think. So Rodgers gets to run Liverpool on his terms, with direct access to the owner.

Norwich are a well run club that seem to be going places, Villa may be a 'bigger' club but they are a sinking ship. Not a good move IMO if true

I find myself agreeing pal. Now is not the time to be taking that Villa job if you ask me. Financial issues there on the horizon also.

But if he fancies a real challenge. Norwich love him and he has built a good side who play good stuff, personally I think I would stay but who knows.

Didn't Villa approach last year?? Maybe between himself and the Norwich board he promised to stay for this season at least and keep them up and when the job has come around again he has told Norwich he wants it. They've not allowed him to speak to them and he feels as if they have not honoured their part of the bargain. Still nothing confirmed yet.

Plus, don't know for sure, but is a good chance that he supports them, seeing that about 1 in 2/3 Northern Irish football fans do so.
Is actually in our interest that the big clubs do well and stay stable - seeing that we are not directly competing with them, and so they don't ever get in a position to poach Nigel if he does well next season - and the smaller clubs get more unstable and increase the number of clubs dropping points in the bottom half of the table.

Surely it's made for Martinez to step in for his second spell?! Any manager would be a fool to go to Villa - one of the most cursed managerial jobs in the top flight, and little chance of any real glory no matter how well you do.

Lambert took a team bottom of L1 to the Prem with hardly any change of personnel. Villa have a lot of youth prospects as well as a slightly older batch of youngsters which haven't quiet managed to fulfil their potential - I can see Villa and Lambert being a good match.

Disagree, I think Villa will ride again next season, after having been in hibernation too long. Top eight, minimum.

They simply don't have the squad for a "top eight, minimum" finish.
