Was one of the two songs the .Faces did on their first appearance on TV on The Old Grey Whistle Test. The other was a slow number called Flying. I remember two lasses saying what a load of ****e Flying was and taking the piss out of his singing. Not too long after, when Maggie May came out they were rhapsodising about this great singer.

He was brilliant, second half was gig ''DIY stylee'' all the hits sung along to by a packed KC, West stand was rocking - first time I've ever said that! Silly **** in a Celtic top dragged out before the third song was finished (followed by half a dozen more ''hoops'') was the comedy element of the evening.

Edited to add - I'm sure there's a terrace song in the chorus of this.

In his time he was excellent. Saw him with Steampacket in the 1960s.with Long John .Baldry, Brian Auger and others.

Wouldn't go now, for the same reason I wouldn't go to The Stones, Van Morrison or the few others left alive that I like as I prefer to remember them as they were in their prime.

I once drove through a winter blizzard from Regina to Saskatoon (about 250 k) to see Rod ... It was stupid, the weather was atrocious and we couldv've died but he was brilliant. At the intermission he said, "Have a beer or chat with those sat near you, while I go outside and put chains on me tyres so I can get back to the hotel. The snow was that bad.
 
Excellent night, well done to whoever put the event together. For a bloke in his 70s Rod can certainly put on a great show. He can still give a football some welly as well as he kicked them into the crowd. Also loved the Diame goal and clips from the Play Off Final he included. Anyone know the attendance?

The event also brought money into the city, eating places/bars in the city centre were heaving and some people had made a day of it. Just shows what can be done when the KCom lays on a well organised and entertaining event.
 
I'm not a Rod fan, but I ended up being invited along by my ex-mother in law yesterday afternoon, I'm always saying I'll go and see her but never get round to it, so I thought what the hell.

Though he's not really my cup of tea, I thought he was excellent, a fantastic performer and he can definitely still sing (unlike Jagger and Daltrey). He also mixed it up a bit, it wasn't just his stuff, he did a bit of Motown and even songs by Dylan and Hendrix. There were a hell of a lot of Scotts in the crowd, there were Scotland and Celtic shirts all over the place, which was nice for them, as they've no other excuse to wear a Scotland shirt this summer. In fact, the whole show was like an advert for Scotland, the front of the drum kit was Celtic badge, images of Celtic fans flashed up all the time, along with images of Glen's and Scottish dancers, all the girls wore kilts and there was a Celtic sound to much of the violin playing.

I'm glad I went.

And that was the biggest firework display I've seen outside of Chinese New Year in Hong Kong Harbour.

It didn't actually sell out, you could still buy tickets yesterday and there were about 1,000 seats unsold, but 24,000 is still a good turn-out.
 
Is that the biggest concert crowd we've had? I've only been to Elton John, had a free ticket and ended up shagging a bird in the toilets while he was on.
