Credit where it is due to them as I couldnt see them going up at the start of the season. They have coped well with a lot of fixtures and some of the players they signed have been excellent for them. That Jack Whatmough at the back has to be one of the best transfers in league one this year.
They've done well but play very little football ... ... I think they'll do a Wycombe and come back down. But fair play, they've done what we've failed to do.
I tend to agree. They arent a footballing side and with that in mind will struggle next year in the championship. Playing hoofball in that division gets hammered. They need a lot of work in the summer to change.
I do find it disappointing and frustrating that Wigan and Wycombe are at the top end of the league. I have no issues with them adopting a style of play if they choose, I just really really dislike it. Football can be a game of real beauty and considering it costs a lot to watch these days I think it needs to be a spectacle. I would hate to think we went too far toward the pragmatic style of play of say a Wycombe. I think I would hate watching us. Alex Neil seems to have that pragmatic capability, but also can produce attractive sides that are good to watch. I think in time he might get the balance right between fluid attacking football, and a side that can play long and be ugly when needed. Johnson was intent on the style of play we see top sides playing now, and I loved him for it, but when you see Wigan and their style of play going up it is right to have both elements to your game in this division.
Burton 1-0 Rotherham Cambridge 0-0 Charlton Ipswich 0-1 Wigan Oxford 0-0 MKD Sheff Wed 0-0 Crewe That's as good a first half as we could hope for.
