I certainly don't want us to reach the point where a top 4 finish is ever considered a 'good' result, much less develop into a side that is content each year to muddle through the early phases of the CL and then aim big in the EL. That is my big concern with LvG, he doesn't seem to have the fire for the fight, everything is relative, for example, in his view an FA Cup final appears to offset the fact that we have played crap football for 95% of the season and are out of the

CL. I want someone in charge who will rip the team to shreds for a few bad passages of play in a game that we win 3 - 0.

While I agree the club should always have high expectations, in the short term I'm not too fussed about winning stuff. All I care about is being able to sit through 90 minutes and actually enjoy watching my team play. Watch players really playing well together and be impressed with some inspired football.

Maybe for the results, but not the manner in which they were achieved. Personally I would have been happy with this season had we actually showed some attacking flair during the season, and scored more goals than Bournemouth.

I think if we do get top four and win the FA Cup, what will decide LVG's future is how the board weights the top four cash plus trophy versus the general lack of attacking intent or effectiveness. Too often during the match against Everton our players got the ball in a good position but seemed to have no clear plan of how to work as a team to get the ball into the goal. We created chances and threatened due to the individual quality of our players, but without some coherent plan of attack we will never achieve anything, regardless of how good the players are.

I think the best we could hope for under LVG would be to become like Liverpool were under Benitez - consistently top four and challenging for cups, but never really threatening to go beyond that, and too defensive to ever really have a decent chance of winning the title. The question is whether the owners think that level, and the money it will bring it, will be enough for a club like Utd.

I love how you always try to sneak in the stealth wumming at the end Swarbs <laugh>

I agree with your post tbh. The football you've played this season has been some of the worst ever in PL history for one of the top teams. The trouble is when Jose brings the busses will people still be wanting more? Probably.

I feel much better that Spuds have dropped points today. I was facing a real battle of conscience in our upcoming game against Leicester. A real dilemma, as I wanted us to win but at the same time not dent Leicester's chances of winning the league. A real Anakin Skywalker moment if you will. But now I can rest assured, the mighty Louis Van Gaal can go on and trounce Leicester with ease and it's a win win situation for everyone <diva>

Me too.

Bizarrely said more or less same thing in a text to a mate.

We beat Leicester and they can still win the league, happy days . I would have not enjoyed us helping Spurs win the league.

That all said we probably won't win anyway.

Yeh it's all probably academic anyway with Van Gaal trying to scrape a 1-0 and probably losing 3-0, but before a ball's been kicked it's a game to look forward to again I suppose.

If we are totally going to **** top 4 chances up I would rather do it against Leicester and let them win the league in style with games to spare, if we are really going for top 4 then let Leicester win it elsewhere :emoticon-0100-smile

Covered all angles, nice <ok>

And that's exactly why I've said Leicester are more deserving champions than Spurs. When a win is vital, Spurs cock it up.

Yes, they play nice pretty football and yes they probably have a stronger all round team. But when the chips are down they do an Arsenal. Seems they did learn something from their more successful rivals, but it wasn't the thing they'd hoped for <ok>

Tbh I'd still have fancied Leicester even if Spurs won last night and we beat Leicester on Sunday. For all their improvement, I still can't see Spurs getting more than a draw at Chelsea and may even manage to lose. So Leicester may be celebrating this week even if they can't get past Louis' White Van at OT.

Hillsborough inquests
Police failures led to the deaths in the 1989 Hillsborough disaster.

Jurors answered yes to the question about whether any police error caused or contributed to a dangerous situation at the 1989 FA Cup semi-final.

The behaviour of Liverpool fans did not contribute to the dangerous situation at the turnstiles.

Fortunately, we have been firmly snubbed by Neymar who has announced that he is happy at Barcelona and has no intention of leaving the Camp Nou this summer. Great news for all of us here at Snubchester.

Today at 6pm Liverpool will overtake the 26 years (9493 days in total for Utd, now 9494 for Liverpool) that United went without winning the league!
At that time, Liverpool had 18 league titles to Uniteds 7. "Have you ever seen United win the league" they sung.
So not only have Liverpool waited longer to win the league, they've now seen United top the perch with 20 league titles!
and Leicester win a PL title before them.

Opportunity knocks this weekend - can't see City taking a full strength team down to the south coast with full focus given the need to get a result in Madrid next week. Also another Wenger speciality beckons against relegation threatened Norwich.

All we need to do is stop Leicester. Easy peasy <ok>
