I don't think arsenal will get rid of Wenger. I still think he is one of the best managers in the world. His hands have been tied there financially for a long long time, they can't pay the wages other clubs have and lose their players as most of them are foreign and have no real affinity to the club so when a bigger club come knocking doubling their wages they do one.
If Wenger had city's squad at his disposal I think they'd be right up there. He hasn't his finances probably match those of Newcastle.
A few years ago his hands were tied, but now the situation is very much of his own making. Arsenal have more money in the bank that any other club, make bags of profit, and are still selling as much as they buy. Wenger's just too tied to the idea of buying unknowns like Vieira and Henry and turning them into world beaters. It worked ten years ago, but just doesn't work now.
They made £30 million odd quid last year, and yet all they do in the summer is buy replacements for players who leave and thus just keep treading water. Wenger could have kept RVP, Nasri and Hleb, and probably Song, Vieira and Henry if he'd wanted to, but seemed to be happy just to let them leave. Had SAF been in charge those players would have played for the club until the day they hung their boots up.
Bollocks. You clearly speak like someone that has not witnessed any of our last three cup exits. It has nothing to with the quality. It's all about the attitude that some of our players take into these games, and that's down to the manager to sort out. He has created an environment where players are comfortable and are not pushed to play better. Mistakes are allowed to go unpunished, and therefore players know they can't go into some games 'half-arsed' and the manager won't do **** all. Fergie won't stand for that rubbish, even with our resources he would have won plenty of trophies.
Completely agree. It's the attitude you take out of the games as well - once again you've been beaten by a team you should have seen off with ease, and once again Wenger's in the press conference shrugging shoulders and going "We lost one game, we made lots of chances but they defended very well, blah blah blah". Same old BS, nothing to make the players sit up and take notice or change their behaviour. He's standing in the press conference saying he doesn't really care about eight years without a trophy, so how does he expect the players to care either?
It's a shame in a way - imo he's one of the top three managers of the last 30 years in England, but he's turning into Brendan Rodgers a little bit more every day.
