Just seen the pens for Liverpool. Both were poor decisions. Great goal by Nugent as well (never thought I'd say that in my lifetime lol)

    Yep.

The recent draws we've had are now being viewed in a different light. A Southampton side we beat via some clinical finishing (and lots of luck) has beaten Arsenal one of our key rivals.

A Tottenham side which every one said we dominated (at least in the first half) and against which every pundit said we lost 2 points, has now destroyed Chelsea. The side which the media pundits said we might as well hand the title to now instead of May.

A stoke match which we only took a point will be seen as a match we showed good resilience in.

A defence that is apparently so poor that United should move for the next available centre halves immediately the window opens has only conceded the same number as that wonderful Chelsea champions elect defensive wall + 1.

And to cap it all a so called mediocre Xmas/new year has put us more firmly in 3rd and reduced the gap from top (not that I think it will make that much difference to the destination of the title)

All in all not a bad Xmas ...relatively. The worse would have been Chelsea. Their aura has now been truly and completely destroyed. The RS have now realised that Stevie at last needs to be sent to grazing pastures. His competitive days are well and truly over. Brenda will need to look for another job soon despite all deluded ones claiming top 4 after 2 wins. <laugh>

    Maureen's post match interview
You can't take anything from that game, it was a derby. Your performance v Spurs compared to Chelsea's performance v Spurs is not = to United v Chelsea performance wise. I reckon Spurs would have done you proper yesterday if you played them instead of Stoke, look what they did to a team with a decent defence, Smalling Jones and co would have been shredded at WHL yesterday

Maureen is picking much the same team week in week out because they were doing so well, his failure to properly rotate in the run up to the busy period is a large part of what happened Chelsea yesterday imo

Don't think Chelsea need to panic about one bad result.

We do need to rotate more though.

Re Spurs we are a more attacking side so we may well concede more than United.

United set up for frustrate opponents and attack on the counter, whereas Chelsea take the game to opponents :)

It's not one bad result though is it Katie? It's 5 points out of the last 15 on offer in away games.

The long awaited Chelsea blip has arrived. A few seasons ago it was in November but now January and February coinciding with the CL.

It is City 's title again. Unfortunately. The nightmare scenario for me is RS ...by a ****ing long distance followed by City. Then arsenal (previous close and bitter clashes have left their scars...<laugh>

I think the sacking has more to do with Barca's recent ban from the transfer market and their failure to replace Puyol.

As for the Rat, 3 goals in 11 appearances so hardly setting the world alight goals wise. Pedro, Messi and Neymar all out performing him.

I have said this before. Sometimes (on those rare occasions) there is an incredible synergy between a very good player and a club. The Rat was at the right place at the right time with the RS. Just like cantona was at United. The rat lifted everyone at the RS including the manager , the captain, all parts of the team from GK defenders to strikers. These players just couldn't do it anywhere else. Just like cantona could never do it for any other team or manager like France and their manager.

But then The Rat is a long way from a messi. And in my opinion he is poor value for Barca and they don't have any off pitch marketing value to fall back on.

But for the RS in pure footballing terms he was worth much more than the £75m he is supposed to have provided the club. Basically as time told the RS and Brenda should have stood their ground. Maybe the RS could check out a loan move or a repurchase ...<whistle>

I agree Suarez was over priced. Very good 18 months at Liverpool but largely scoring against the lesser sides and without any C.L experience or marketability. Barca also did not need more attacking talent. Where is Puyol's replacement? Liverpool did well to get 75 million, just didn't adequately replace his impact on the team.

Atleast Spurs have dropped some points today, so if we can win tomorrow we will be in an even stronger position for top 4. I'm not to fussed about the top 2 as I think it's a long shot us catching them. Nice to see City drop a couple though
