Really dumb idea by Charlton:
You must log in or register to see media
Apparently this guy is the only one that was contacted and his behaviour was completely out of line, which he's admitted.
Nobody is going to know that by reading that letter, though and I find at hard to believe that they didn't consider that.
Their approach actually seems quite reasonable from their statement, but how many people will read it?

Not entirely sure that I see Charlton as having done anything wrong here.....
An individual supporter vents on social media in a totally inappropriate manner, which he himself appears to admit.
Charlton send him the letter and arrange a one to one meeting to explain and hand over the season ticket. This occurs and he doesn't even receive the ABC as he is exceptionally apologetic.
Fan then posts the personal communication from Charlton on social media.....

Yes, the letter could be more comprehensive and they might have predicted it could go public , but it was a private communication and the individual himself could fill in the blanks.
Regardless of the wrongs or rights of the arguments going on at the club, it looks to me as if CAFC would have been well within their rights to just refuse the individual a season ticket. So their attitude looks to be very reasonable. If I was that fan I would be inclined to show rather more gratitude than to reignite the whole thing back on Twatter!
