Which is why Howard Webb and Graham Poll disagree I think: using 'excessive force' is just too subjective to be a sensible Law unless it comes with a very detailed interpretational guide.

After webbs appalling refereeing of that world cup final between Holland and Spain I don't take anything he has to say seriously

Dead right. He wasn't too popular in Spain, I can tell you! I know it was a WC final, but In what footballing universe was De Jong's assault on Alonso not a red card!!

With Bayern in their group, they're going have to win their other three games to go through - Olympiakos (h & a), Dinamo (h)

Oops!
<laugh>

Every season I say the same thing - the CL is absolutely wasted on the Gooners. They are an absolute disgrace in Europe!

So you'd think, Smithy! But you and I know what Wenger's like!

Interviewer: "Arsenal were ****, tonight, weren't they, Mr Wenger?"
Wenger: "I did not see it."

"The good news is that when we lose a CL spot next year it almost certainly guarantees we'll finish 4th"

The Goons will still qualify.
Wenger is s**t scared of what Kroenke might do the moment they have to pay
a fair amount of their wage bill from the cash balance rather than having CL money.

Not qualifying is what their other CL rivals also fear.
A disturbance in the Kroenke/Wenger continuum could cause a change in manager/
players that seriously fixes their underachievement.

If Arsenal fail to get into the CL, they are a failure. End of.

Any club that pays the kind of obscene wages that AFC pays its players can have absolutely no excuses about qualifying for the CL. Many of us would go further than that, and assert that any such club that doesn't make, at the very least, the semi-final stage on a regular basis, is an utter shambles and a complete embarrassment to both its fans and the country that it, supposedly, represents.

I think the humiliation of the Chelsea fans knowing that AFC is the "Daddy" in London, would be too much for Mad Dog, and (having run out of easy excuses - having, at various times, blamed the fans, the backroom staff, and FIFA) he'll have no choice but the turn on The Smug One.

Don't understand why pundits always seem to love Costa's antics so much, he's just a petulant twat who should be sent off far more than he is. Costa should've gone for his flailed arm and deserved his booking for going at Gabriel off the ball. Gabriel can feel hard done by, he was booked for nothing and is that small kick really deserving of a straight red? Not for me and I don't blame him for thinking it was acceptable given what Costa had just got away with.

Hopefully the FA won't pussy away from giving Costa a retrospective ban he clearly threw his arm back after bizarrely trying to cover the defender's eyes.
