Except the fact it's an official competition, not something set up by the clubs. Every league in Europe has a super cup and there's even one for Europe.
It might not exactly be the champions league
but it's an official tournament so it obviously counts as a trophy (a minor one granted) far more than the emirates cup or any pre season club arranged cups do. Barca include it in there 7 trophies in a year boasting

Oh and those two teams have to go and win something first to enter it, there are requirements for who is one of the two teams, they aren't just a couple of random teams in pre season

As they do the 2nd division title. Yours also thinks that the Fairs Cup is one, despite it not meeting your own criteria of being "an official tournament".
The fairs cup is an interesting one, it was organised by people including an FA official all ending up senior parts of fifa, it is the predecessor to the uefa cup, but is not recognised as a major honour by uefa as they didn't run it, but FIFA do recognise it.
I think an argument could probably be made for or against including it as a major honour.

I think that he was referring to the Super Cup. A Chelsea fan that I know insisted that this was also a major trophy, until their game against Atletico!
