There aren't many sides around that play 3 proper strikers and I can't see Utd being one of them, especially under Moyes.
That'll either see Kagawa shunted out to the wing, Rooney left out or left altogether and a couple of wingers deployed, at which point your midfield really doesn't look that great, does it?
You can see why Fellaini's been linked with a move to Old Trafford, especially with the lack of physicality in the middle, with Fletcher's unfortunate condition ruling him out.

Ive not mentioned fellaini as someone wasnt happy I stated he's another likely signing yesterday. Likely based on Moyes knowing all about him. He'd certain add a bit of physicality to our midfield and negate Citys midfield somewhat.

to be fair he starts a lot. Just not in his position which is why I think he wants out. No player wants to wait years for another to retire. By the time Xavi goes he'll be 27/28 at least.

I think that's probably true of every team in the Premier League.

City's Fernandinho, Toure, Silva, Navas and Nasri would appear to be better than what you've got and it doesn't add anyone that they don't already own.

I personally don't need any validation of how good Utd are from Spurs fans. We won the league at a canter. It doesn't have to come with a testimonial from other fans to be gratifying.

And what is the point debating what teams are going to do over the course of next season in July? Utd will make signings, as other clubs are doing. Whether players signed by any club prove worthwhile does not depend on past performances, but on how they fare for their new club - and that is conjecture at this point.

How players fit into a team has a bearing on not only their own performances, but those of others. And some players improve with experience anyway - for example, there were a lot of signs that Kagawa was becoming a much better player as last season progressed. A strong, ball winning midfielder will help a player like Kagawa be more influential. And players' form varies due to any number of factors - look at the contrasting contibutions of Silva, Hart & Kompany, for example over the last two seasons. So there is no point saying team A is stronger because they have players X, Y & Z on the assumption that they will play at the top of their form every week. In the case of those three, you would look foolish.

Especially when winning 'something' is the norm for United. Huge pressure on Moyes will develop even more if they don't get off to good start, and getting off to a good start has not always happened even at United. It remains to be seen if the board and Moyes can hold their nerve in the face of 2 or 3 losses.

You might find that now that expectation has gone, refs don't feel the pressure so much when they visit OT and make decisions based on the game, rather than the wrath of Fergie.

Nobody comes close to SAF.

Nobody knows how Moyes will do either. All anyone knows is Moyes has inherited a squad that is the current Champions of England.

Moyes' managerial history suggests hes the sort of manager who improves a side. Preston were in Division 2 when he joined, when h left for Everton they were in Division 1. He improved them and almost took them to the PL using the same squad he just got promoted with. This is a guy who gets the best out of his players.

He then took over Everton, a side who had averaged 15th in the 6 seasons before and had been involved in a relegation battle or 2. Overall he averaged 8th ( 7 places higher than when he took over ) and 6th during his last 6 seasons.

Two previous jobs, 2 significant improvements, two examples of getting the best out of his players.

Hes now at United. Get the best out of the players here and what do you think happens?

With respect, I don't think refs will give a flying **** what Fergie from the backroom has to say anymore. He has lost his mouthpiece and with it, his influence on referees.

It's not so much the Old Trafford games I'm looking forward to seeing, it's the away games.

At Everton, Moyes was able to get away with negatives tactics away from home against the better sides (which explains his 0/45 win record against the old Sky 4) as he could play the "We don't have the same resources as those sides" line, but that won't be the case at United as they will be expected to (play to) win wherever they go. United play their two biggest rivals away from home in the opening 6 games, Moyes cannot afford to lose either of those games. Does he stick or does he twist? Fascinating to see how he'll approach those type of games.

I could be wrong but I see startling similarities to Roy Hodgson.
