I can understand why HiaG is excited at the prospect of you guys having less than a 10 point difference to us at the end of the season.

Not excited, I am disappointed that we are not ahead of you, as we should be. I've not been keen on AVB's tinkering with our formation. Still, normal service has, hopefully, been restored, following our demolition of the Spanners. Next up, the Mousers, which should be even easier for us.

Your lot, in the meantime, seem to be sprinting backwards, at the moment. That has got to be worrying?

Wouldn't expect an Arsenal fan not to be positive about their chances of finishing above us. It's the only thing they can hope for these days. We can all talk up our team how we want but that new forward line couldn't score against Villa, who have the second worst GD in the league(since you brought it up). The GD between us is clearly skewed by the 6 goal swing from the previous game but you keep grasping on to it until we go ahead of you on points and it counts for 0.

I would only blame the defending on the Chelsea game, the rest of the lost points are a combination of things, not excluding the defending.

We've lost far more by not creating clear cut chances, and I personally think some of it is down to not being able to rotate Arteta or Cazorla at all so far, even in easier games. They've looked spent in the last few league games.

Arsenal and Spurs are going to be close all season but it's hard to deny Arsenal are the better team right now.

Spurs have looked impressive against lower half opposition, Arsenal the opposite.

Arsenal should finish above Spurs but as YV points out it's not a given and if it's the height of their ambitions these days then that's disappointing.

If Arsenal can get out of January level, above or at least within touching distance of Spurs they'll finish above them but that by no means guarantees top 4 given the form of Everton and WBA.

Not a very astute comment, do you really believe this?? (its almost wummy dare I say! ) neither have the squad to maintain this, WBA lose two key players to Acon and the toffees lose Pienaar for starters. They've had first 11's out there, in contrast ours has yet to play one game!

If Fellaini stays fit I wouldn't rule Everton out but they have a tough test coming up over the next few weeks, if they come through that still in the mix I'd expect them to be up there. West Brom will have to prove their stayabillity too. Realistically I can't see them getting 4th unless both us and Arsenal continue to struggle which isn't that likely. If both of us get around say, 60-64 points then it's up for grabs as that kind of total isn't far off what Everton are capable of getting and if West Brom don't run out of steam they could forseeably get near that but if us or Arsenal get 68+ that 4th place usually gets I can't see another team getting 4th.

Not Wumming just giving respect where it's due. Everybody is saying the same things about WBA as they did Newcastle last year and Ipswich about 10 years ago. Everton have a better First XI than Spurs or Arsenal IMO but obviously you've more strength in depth. WBA will struggle to win games where they don't score first. Their gameplan is entirely based around it.

Everton always do better against the top sides anyway.

If you can beat,outplay and keep a clean sheet against United you can beat anyone.

I think I'll decline to debate any more of this! You've seen as much of our 1st 11 as I have, so until you have, that is about as emptier claim as I've read. i won't be childish and put a doh smiley on the end...but its extremely deserving!

Bearing in mind that it's so early on, I think it's very hard to tell.

Arsenal have only played 2 of the top 6 of last year away from home, getting 1 point. They've also played chelsea at home and lost.

we've played 4 out of the top 6 away and chelsea at home, where we also lost.

The fact that we've also been riddled with injuries since the summer, yet we're on the same amount of points as them, is good reading for us. Especially as we've got a new boss with new ideas.

I think it's too early to say whether arsenal are the better team at the moment.

I'd also disagree that we've looked better against "lesser opposition". we've had poor results against Norwich, West Brom and Wigan at home, only picking up 2 points out of 9.
